Right decision I think, especially for those travelling from afar.

I'm sure this is the correct decision but I am beginning to wonder what the point of underpitch heating is

"The pitch, which has been immaculately looked after by the ground staff, is believed playable and we would like to thank everybody who has worked tirelessly at the Club to try and get the game to go ahead."

So the pitch is fine but as expected its the safety of fans outside the ground thats got the game called off.

With this much notice everyone should be OK though - no one will have made unnecessary journeys which given the conditions is common sense this time

Health and safety ruling the world again - I don't need the 'authorities' telling me it's unsafe to walk up to Oakwell tomorrow afternoon. Anybody who thinks it's unsafe can choose to stay at home, but for me it's no more unsafe than going to work every day or walking round the town centre/shops. Right load of b*llocks if you ask me. World has gone mad

Yeah seems pointless having undersoil heating really. How do they go on in russia or places like that? Genuine question, i would imagine its these temperatures quite regularly

Disappointing, but at least we get a few more rest days. Norwich has a full week to recover while we only had 4 days.

Ridiculous isn't it? I might have thought twice about driving 70 miles up the A42/M1 but that should be my decision.

The only time it might be of benefit is when there are low temperatures but no snow, might happen once every few years.....

If it had been scheduled for TV I fancy it would have been going ahead , from a personal point of view , with Jackson & Mills injured , having played in the week & giving our new coaches extra time to work with the players before our next game , I think not playing helps us , plus its chuffing Baltic for the fans , so I am not too downhearted

I honestly don't think this decision has been made solely on the conditions as they exist today.
The concern will be what is likely still to come. Police forces up and down the country are
advising motorists to travel only if necessary and in some parts of the country, the Army is
being called in to help with stranded motorists. Long range forecast is that the temperature
is set to plummet overnight and more snow is likely. All in all to prevent injury and worse, even
though it's disappointing it's the right decision. If the Forest game against Birmingham goes ahead and Birmingham
win, we will drop into the bottom three again, but hopefully with the extra time Jose will have with
the team indoors, that should benefit the team going forward.

Perhaps you are fit and healthy enough to walk up there but there's plenty of elderly, very young and disabled people who aren't. There would also certainly be people who are putting themselves at risk travelling long distances. The club want to think of everyone's safety and not just those who live nearby and are physically fit. It makes far more sense to postpone the match and play it at a time when there is less risk to everyone. It's a game of football at the end of the day, it's not going to hurt anyone putting it off for a few weeks but there's a very real chance people could get hurt trying to attend.

I agree with the general concensus that it is the right call to postpone. As Donny Red says, when you have the army on the roads helping stranded motorists and there is more to come tonight, it doesn't seem right to suggest that people should travel to the game.

I know its people's personal choice and we shouldn't live in such a H&S obsessed world but the reality is that people would travel, including from Norwich.

Normally I hate the world being so H&S obsessed these days and I do agree with Farnham that undersoil heating seems pointless in this day and age. But on this ocassion, right decision.

Initially disappointed but I've just spent the 20 mins outside helping my neighbour with his car. It's too cold I'll be happier indoors I reckon.

Perhaps, or maybe it's sensible for the club to not put people in that position for the sake of something they can just do in a couple of weeks instead. People may make choices they feel uncomfortable about through feeling like they must attend. There would also be plenty of people who would be forced to attend such as those travelling from Norwich (players and staff) plus our own players, staff, caterers and security team despite police advice of people only travelling if necessary. If the match was designated to go ahead and staff and players could not get there (or were injured trying) then it would be called off anyway at the last minute, with far more annoyance to people. This way it's an inconvenience but it doesn't put people's safety at risk.

Lets be right though, its hardly dangerous anymore. I've just been for a lovely walk on the golf course with the Dog foraging for Lost Golf Balls and Truffles with George Spicer.
