IMHO he's been consistently average since we signed him. He'll never be a Premier League midfield player and might struggle to get a team in the Championship, but unfortunately for us he's much better than the dozen or so other midfield players we've wasted Christ knows how much on.
Sick of seeing his long balls to nowhere and coning short to receive a free kick only to give it back to the same player who`s now under pressure.
He started out well but had been going downhill for a while imo. By the time of his red card he had had several poor games in a row
At very least needs a rest. Don't know what he was thinking for their second goal but it was very poor. Sounds like Kassmuller did OK so we have an option to drop either Williams or Gardner
Most people agree with that point of view. I never saw it. I think he was OK, he put a tackle in when the rest of our midfield simply refused, but I couldn't see this great player that most people alluded to. Just my opinion. I've seen a lot of great midfield players at Barnsley over the years, but Joe Williams has always been miles off.
I wasn’t particularly fussed about his tackling. It was okay but he isn’t a midfield enforcer in my eyes. It was more the space that he made available for himself and others, always wanted the ball and used the same effectively and efficiently. I would’ve been delighted had we managed to secure him long term in January but alas it wasn’t to be.
Did you go ?? He’s our most comfortable on the ball alls you do is slate Joe Williams he was wriggling out of tight spaces and building attacks all game
So it was roughly £1mill that we offered for Williams ?. How much then do they/Everton actually want!.
Watch the highlights back and then judge it again. Got lucky tonight after a woeful pass to know one that thankfully only lead to them hitting the post.
W watched the whole game mate you obviously know your football tojudge someone’s performance of highlights
