I was slagging Mallan off but he wasn’t solely responsible. Lyndsay didn’t help and neither did whoever threw the ball to Mallan putting him in a difficult position as well
Yes damn him, that bloke Kaplan, why did we sign somebody even called Kaplan lol. Why do you call him that SuperT ?. We all wanted Mallan in to start ahead of Williams didnt we, and ok it was because of an injury, but I was glad to see him get a chance. And Jose then made the mistake of giving in and dropping him at HT, because just like the Cavare sending off thing, yes it cost us the game but up until then he'd not put a foot wrong!.
I think it was another of yiadoms poor throws but could be wrong. It was an awful showing from everyone concerned but it concerns me greatly that every time an attacker runs in Lindsay's direction he runs away from them till they shoot
Mallan was under no pressure and was so desperate to pass it (sideways I hasten to add) that he gave it away and cost us a goal as we were caught flat
I know that. Im saying he wasn't solely to blame and Lindsay shouldn't have ran away from the striker allowing him a free shot on goal
When strikers miss penalties it seems to be seen as less of a mistake than that of Mallans today....shouldnt have taken him off for me as he played some cutting balls prior to error....
Yeah but he let it get to him and he was crap thereafter. Before that he was smart, but we need drive forwards in the middle if we've no wingers, and Mallan doesn't run forwards with the ball. And Gardner only passes backwards. So those days when it was a cavalry charge forwards whenever the other side naffed up a corner are well gone. Pity, cos we scored a few that way.
It was Yiadom's throw but Mallan ran into a good position wanting the ball. You can hardly blame Yiadom for what Mallan did next. That's like blaming Player X for missing a penalty Player Y missed because Player X won it. Throw-ins are a real problem for us though. Usually a thrower only has one option. In the 1st half Yiadom took 10 seconds waiting for someone to show. Do we practice them or are the players so low in confidence they don't want the ball?
I suspect the latter is the reason. What with the ball boys taking a minute to retrieve the thing, or the players having to do it themselves, and then it taking ages to actually take the thing as no-one wants it, we waste half the match on them only to give it straight away.
Mallan might have been a catalyst in second half who knows, ones things 4 sure Morais has to try different things because doing the same old just brings the same old. Youd like to think hes doing that, doesnt always come off but if hes learning at same time about the players......and i know theres not much time left b4 i get shot darn
If that was the real stevie Mallan he’s never been a footballer. A shocking performance amongst many others
Did you not notice that for a while he was the only creative player, spraying it around and especially setting Thiam off down the wing?
Agreed. I can see why Lindsay keeps getting overlooked for the national team. Terrible square ball by Malan, but players follow team orders, so it will be Morais telling him to play that negative and flat way. When he was made the scapegoat being replaced at half time, if anything we got worse in the second half, so now Morais will need another person to blame.
Was saying today at the match. We seem to have reached the point of just trying something different for the sake of it now. And I do get that, I don't hold out any hope it will yield the answer though.
Jesus, that’s some grasp, even for you. You can’t blame a manager for a player giving the ball away so cheaply. If you watched him after it, his head had gone and he had to come off
The issue is all opposition teams are different, loads of variables to consider. Tbh i thought our best side was out against Norwich. Fryers has his doubters but i bet if you look at the games where we picked up points hes featured. N where was Mcburnie today
