It really wasn’t. But folk want to paint everything the new owners do as black I think. Hand it back to James.
I have nothing against the new owners. They are what they are. Strange to see you defending venture capitalists though. Whatever happened to expropriating the expropriators. I have nothing against Jose. I’d like him to be a success. Today is in my top 10 all time worst Barnsley performances. I’m not sure how anyone watching could see anything other than abject surrender. We were beyond pathetic.
No - I’m claiming we have good players. There’s a massive difference there. You only have to watch one on one against opponents to see we have good players. However, we have a terrible team - the team and how it operates is the responsibility of the manager. At the moment the manager is imposing a formation and system on the players that everyone at Oakwell except the manager can see is totally wrong. The manager should play the players to get the most from their strengths. Morais is currently playing the players to try and get most out of a system he wants to play. Players in the Premiership are able to adapt more easily to changes in formation - Championship players don’t adapt that easily.
I’m not defending them, just wondering why the previous owner could be so frankly ***** at times and yet the new lot have had three months and have bought a club riddled with issues caused by lack of investment ( on and off the pitch) and don’t get a 10th of the lauding or praise or “patience”. They need to give it to James and clear off. Waste of time owning it.
Without wishing to repeat what has already been said above PH definitely said on numerous occasions that the central midfielders at his disposal could not effectively compete in a midfield two at Championship level and that’s where the fault lies. In Morais’ first game we lined up pretty much as Nudger suggested above with two wingers in Hammill and Isgrove and two central strikers albeit McBurnie and Bradshaw as opposed to McBurnie and Moore. Unfortunately Burton absolutely dominated the midfield and were 2-0 up at HT. We may have the strikers to play with two up top but I still can’t pick a central midfield two that can compete on current form. As a side note, I saw on Twitter that Hammill’s ommision may be down to off field issues as opposed to anything else. It’s also worth noting that the press don’t tend to ask questions about Hammill in the same way that they do about Hedges or Isgrove, it’s almost as though they’ve been briefed.
Someone suggested on here that he’d been taking the piss out of Morais by making cat noises after Morais had made a speech about a cat and a saucer of milk. Sounds daft enough to be true.
Adam Hammill has taken Barnsley to his heart. So as for Hammill saying something derogatory to Morais - I could well believe that. Hammill is a feisty fooker and will not like to see Morais pulling the team apart and playing players out of position etc. I would imagine that the loss of Hecky as come as a massive blow to Hammill. Hammill was brilliant at the start of the season - we need him back playing like that - because that player can really cross a ball. And with two big lads in the middle now they would get a hat full. As I’ve said - Thiam and McBurnie are NOT wingers and Moore is playing isolated on his own .
