Our then manager should have known Townsend wasn't up to it even as back up. I knew that a long time back, strange how he didn't but didn't think George Williams could be a squad player.
He did! I’m glad you’ve agreed, That’s the point though, he didn’t get a game because he wasn’t better than Davies no matter how bad Davies was!! The clamour from the stands doesn’t make Townsend a better player
I watched the goal again and it is a bad bad bad goal all round. Stupid throw from Yiadom, To Mallan going towards his own goal, who tries to lay it off to Pinilos who is out of position anyway, then Lindsey is caught in two minds. Then the keeper is easily beaten. The Ball from the throw should have been going down the line and forwards for a start
It was poor management to not get shut or get another back up keeper in. You don't have to be sir Alex to see Townsend isn't upto it we have known that years. So we only had Davies as a goalkeeping option if he had got injured we would have been ******. Thing is he had been out of form all season and cost us plenty of points because Townsend isn't very good doesn't make Davies any better. Poor season must do better.
Just never been the quickest so had to rely on reading the game well & communicating with team mates or I end up looking an idiot . I think consistency at the back’s been the biggest problem. I don’t think it’s coincidence that our best spell came when we had Jackson & Lindsay playing a run of games together & I could be wrong but I think Yiadom & Fryers played alongside them for most of the run
Yes that CB partnership worked well I think during that period McCarthy and Pearson also played in the fullback areas
