It’s defo a pen imo the intention of the defender along with contact is a pen .
However the actions of the striker is woeful and should be rightfully ridiculed
Trouble is ref wouldn’t have given it if he had t gone down and therein lies the problem imo

You can't be serious Marlon. Nothing there comes even close to a penalty. At no time did the defender even tackle him, he just ran in front of him.

We need 10 match bans for sh.it like that. Its turning me right off football

So to quote our favourite football pundits - "he was entitled to go down"

They should snap their ankles with a ball hammer and block for diving.

The attacker must have felt something as the defender swiped his left leg back, clearly not enough to knock him over.
Then he proceeded to b̶l̶a̶t̶a̶n̶t̶l̶y̶ ̶c̶h̶e̶a̶t̶ "make the most of it" as it were.

But DSL you have to look at the bigger picture. So Marlon is 100% correct when he say the intention of the defender to make that tackle was there, so a nailed on penalty.

My tongue now removed from my cheek.

At least Scottish Refs can get it right, especially when its Rangers who are involved.

Absolutely, the only thing he made contact with was when he kicked the pitch!!

The thing is, even a lengthy ban doesn't really cover it. That dive won them the match. Sometimes cheats DO prosper.

    Have another look.
The intention of the defender was suicidal ,the fact he hardly touched him is irrelevant ,there was minimal contact but contact there was .

I did as you asked and watched it again. Another 10 times.

Are we talking about the same video?. I have literally no idea what you are seeing. Sorry.

You are looking solely at the atrocious theatrics of the attacker and not the incident imo.
THe defenders foot is moved in an attempt at the attacker imo there is contact however minimal as the attacker is not looking but goes down because he feels the faintest of touches . I agree there is not enough contact to blow a domino down but the defender gives the ref a decision .
The fact the attacker makes a mountain out of a mole hill is irrelevant and if you can’t see the defender attempts a leg up of the attackerr then we’re seeing two different videos .

OK, I watched it yet again to focus solely on the defender. I can see what you are describing but disagree with you fundamentally that it can even be described as an incident. Absolutely no decision for the ref to make, nothing happened.

Put it this way, if that had been given against us, would you say yeah fair enough good call? Or would you be furious? I'd be wishing him dead.

If that's even close to being a justified penalty then football is finally ******.

Nope. Never touched him and even if he HAD touched him the striker doesn't fall over, he takes a step forward and then jumps over. Clear dive. The only decudecito make is whether to wave the yellow card in his face or hit hhim with it.

The whole idea that a player is entitled to go down or that they are somehow forgiven for being a cheat under ANY circumstances is disgrscefdiin my opinion. It's this condoning which is encouraging it and is ruining football.

What the hell you on about?
I have never said he was entitled to go down that was another poster.and I certainly wasn’t condoning the strikers actions nor the defender for giving ref a dicision
My argument wasn’t even whether the attacker was touched by the defender that’s an opinion for either side of the argument .
I didn’t even say the attacker hadnt dived . I think your making your own points and putting them in my thread.
The whole point of my argument is that the defender moves his leg towards the attacker and that is legitimate for a pen .
Nothing to do with whether the attacker did a pliet or a pirouette or a swan dive I stated quiet clearly the actions of the striker were out of order but his actions were imo because he knew the defender had waved his leg
