https://theglassworksbarnsley.com/gallery/ For those interested in the construction works in the town centre heres a simulation video of what the renovations are going to look like once complete.
Some interesting names there...Five guys, Wagamama, Bistrot Pierre etc. I'll be impressed if the town gets all of those. Either way I can't wait to see the finished article.
In what way do you believe they won't deliver? That it will be completed but to a significantly poorer quality than the video shows? Or that it won't be completed?
Have you got any idea of the latest timescales for the project? I know that the meat and fish market is due for opening in September and the market kitchen a little later but is there any timescale for the rest that you know of?
Multi-storey coming down in Sept when the meat market moves, the bridge is then set to be constructed. I think everything else is on course for the 2020 opening. There's detailed plans just inside the indoor market showing the stones used for paving and the latest timescales. Looks impressive but the problem is for how long? Before "OSA" is tagged all over it. Mandela Gardens is a brilliant example of how things are left to go to ruin.
For us daft people which one is classed as the indoor market now? In other words where would I find these plans and stones? Got to say I'm quite impressed with the speed that this first phase is coming along but at the same time I'm a bit worried that the overall finish will fall short of expectations with cost cutting measures being used. An example of this is leaving the sprinkler system exposed. The reason is that they say it is a design statement but I worry in reality it is to save the costs of hiding them and will give a cheap finish.
Boo, you’re posting something that might give a positive to Tarn. Won’t go well with some on here, as you can already see. Only post negative things concerning Tarn please.
Indoor market is under the multi-storey. Theres an example of the stonework just up from where groggers was.
Oh I don't mind nice things for the town and the glassworks look good, but when development happens it should be for the entire town and not just one end of it. The other end around town end seems to be largely forgotten about all the time, so when this new development opens and the footfall fecks off to that end of town what happens to all the small business owners not in the that area?
Video was made before they made the decision about the bridge. That video's been on the website a while. https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/5m-to-bridge-the-gap
