Telling everyone how the game should be played and what is fair and acceptable levels of sledging and not crossing the line. Set of whinging cheating ball tampering cry babies.
Darren Lehman moaning about the abuse his players are getting The same Darren Lehman who asked the Aussie fans to make Stuart Broad cry with verbals.
Every test side have and do do it Our very own test captain Mike Atherton got caught doing it some years back it's just naive to think you'll get away with it knowing how many cameras are focussing on the field if play Still nice watching the Aussies squirm though
Amusing after the fuss they made claiming Jimmy Anderson cheated. Great local article, good to see their own press aren't trying to move on and forget about it...... https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricke...wers-these-key-questions-20180325-p4z641.html They have done a Pakistan in the senior players picking the young inexperienced kid that daren't say no to them, to do the dirty like when Amir got caught spot fixing.
Compare with how Rugby handled cheating in the Bloodgate scandal Bit more than a 1 match ban, between 4 months and 2 years for those involved https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloodgate
They seem to have taken ball tampering to the next level, so whilst I think its a bit much to say life bans for players, Smith should be stripped of captaincy by Cricket Australia for good and Lehman has to be sacked, the ICC should probably ban Smith, Warner and Bancroft for a series with the threat of a life ban for any more incidents of cheating in the future. Warner and Lehman calling out the unacceptable sledging and the verbals coming from the crowd is laughable given their previous statements on the subject - if you can't take it, don't dish it.
I don't see why Smith shouldn't be banned for life - he is only apologetic because he and his smug teammates didn't get away with it - a one game ban and losing his match fee is a disgrace - it basically gives the green light to other teams to cheat - when it was proven beyond all doubt that the Australian's had been cheating the game should have been stopped there and then and the game awarded to South Africa - you have to concentrate minds with this sort of thing, stamp on it hard and set an example.
I agree. All those involved should be banned for life, just like those involved in the Pakistan spot fixing should have been. This is even worse because they tried to cheat to win. Guys like Amir and Butt faked a no ball to swindle cash from bookies. Sky Cricket debate yesterday was a good half hour, with Luke Wright saying he was brought up on having a Murray Mint. Now there is talk about stopping players being able to suck on a mint on the field. I see Steve Smith won't captain his IPL side now. One good thing out of it has been the Australian press. It would be easy for them to close ranks and stick up for their own. But they have done the right thing in bashing them to great lengths....... https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket
I have thought for a while that Smith has shown a distinct lack of leadership as captain. He has been in wonderful form of his own, but wants too much to be 'one of the lads,' as witnessed by his stance on the Jonny Bairstow headbutt silliness. At least he has come clean, so that Bancroft hasn't had to take all the blame, but he obviously knew what was going on and failed in his duty as captain and ambassador for Australian cricket in not confronting the issue. Wonderful player in wonderful form, but not a captain.
reading a few aussie news sites and it appears they seem more disgusted than the other cricket loving countries, probably because the rest already knew their standards seen the sugar incident and while some will think we didn't lose the ashes fairly, which is wrong, they probably did treat the ball to a sweetie or 2 but we are just woeful in tests anyway, NZ proved that can see smith/warner sacked from their captain roles and "rested" but will be back in the team before long, regardless of their actions, they're 2 cracking batsmen lehmann's fate looks doomed unless players convince CA he absolutely knew nothing, he did try to cover it up though which is fact
lehmann off the hook! unbelievable he can claim not to be involved, what was he doing on the walkie-talkie? ordering a pizza and it was bancrofts turn to pay!
Lehmann would be in many a Yorkshire all time 11, but he's still a ****. Maybe he knew nothing but then he should have still be fired for not having a clue what his senior players was up to. Sutherland came across as a ***** too. Asked many times if he thought it was cheating and he wouldn't say yes. Smith said the other day senior players were involved, but now they claim others aren't involved even though there is footage of Starc watching it in the dressing room. Sutherland is letting the guilty leave the country before punishments are announced, which is a copout and makes the press conference pointless for leaving out the most important part. Considering Pakistan players got banned for years or for life for trying to swindle the bookies with spot fixing, these three for blatant pre determined cheating should all be banned for life.
Correct me if I’m wrong but in the Bancroft/Smith press conference Smith categorically stated that the senior leadership team knew of and approved Bancroft’s actions. It has long since been mooted that both DL, Warner and Lyon are members of said senior leadership team yet today Cricket Australia has insisted that only Smith and Warner knew of the plot. This smacks of a cover up, in my opinion.
sky, for all the pundits they've had on talking about for an age decided not to show the conference in full, and prefer to get bob willis back on instead who is now like a broken record it appears sutherland was again asked if they cheated and the journalist got refused an answer and more or less told to button it bent cricketers who take bungs are failing on purpose for financial gain, this was scared of failing to win life bans would be harsh, loads of others been caught before with little punishment, 5 test ban and stripped of captaincy probably enough for smith & warner, bancroft is touted as the fall guy but i'm not sure they make young easily lead timid aussie test cricketers
Seen first hand what horrible arrogant gits Smith and Warner are but I think being vilified and stripped of authority with some form of suspended punishment would just about right. Ball tampering to a greater or lesser extent takes place from test to village cricket level - doesn’t excuse it but I’d suggest trying to rid those pollocks of their arrogance would be enough. Just my opinion.
