Seems the team are getting together to sort tactics out.

Can people please stop repeating the lie about Hammill & no assists.

Every time it’s mentioned people put them straight & then it gets repeated again a day or two later on another post.

Not trying to be picky but you’re way off here, Hammill doesn’t have 0 goals & 0 assists.

We’ve also barely played 4-4-2 under Heckingbottom this season, maybe a handful of times at the most, mainly because we only had Bradshaw, Ugbo & Thiam until the end of January.

    Agree on Hassell

So he has 0 goals and 1 assist in the league? Had a right season then. Get him back in the team.

Have you seen the video on the other page? He's got 1 goal and 3 assists. Yes it's not exactly setting the world on fire, but as previously stated, he was playing in a side with one striker to aim at.

He also cares. Which immediately puts him in front of about 85 percent of the squad, and whilst not the be all and end all, certainly counts in a relegation scrap.

Hence why I said in the league. My point is neither stat offers much support for his inclusion in the team. Fair enough point in relation to him perhaps having more desire - but from my point of view it was only the first half of Millwall where we seemed to have lacked effort. Which brings it back to the point that the team simply don't have enough quality.

Not sure why you’re making a comment like that when I’ve never said that.

It’s just dumb criticism to only go off stats. I can think of two absolute sitters that Bradshaw & Barnes missed from Hammill crosses that should’ve been scored.

He was our best player for the first 6 weeks of the season & put in lots of quality crosses, he’s been poor after September I agree & he’s in the same boat as our other wingers in my opinion which is that none of them have done enough to say they should definitely play.

However there is a part of me that wants to see the type of crosses he put in for Bradshaw been put in for Moore & McBurnie.

If Hammill & Isgrove could get quality balls into the box often for Winnall & Fletcher then I think there’s a chance they could get some good balls in for Moore & McBurnie, obviously not to the same extent because we’re playing better opposition but I think it’d make us more creative than we are currently.

I just think it’s wrong that people are going on here & on Twitter & it’s almost as if they’re taking joy from spreading a lie about a club legend

Also has a minimum of 2 defenders tracking him when he plays because other teams know what a threat he is. Hardly Hammill's fault if the players left unmarked are unable to capitalise on that.

Hammill is at his best playing wide left and cutting in on his right foot, but the 'must play' deals done for Kent then Barnes, have severely restricted his opportunities to play there consistently in the championship. I can't think of a better wide left player in the squad at the moment, it's suicide not playing him

That was my point - it's a dumb criticism to go solely off stats. So arguing between 0 or 1 assists in the league is a bit silly. Hammill got great balls in the box in league one, but unfortunately he has struggled in the Championship. I also think he's always one silly tackle away from a sending off and his decision-making has been atrocious this season. Other people may think differently but for me the clamour for Hammill to return is largely based on sentiment.

Agree he's better on the left, but without Barnes' contribution earlier in the season we would probably be in an even worse position than we are now.

I don’t know if that’s true about Barnes & Kent but to be fair Kent suited the team better last season, we were a counter attacking team & the pace of Watkins & Kent suited us more than playing Hammill.

I think he’s better on the right in the championship, you can cross a ball well at any level but it’s much harder to skip past people & cut in & shoot, I don’t think he can do that like he could in league one.

They have to go to the extreme to try and validate their point of view, it works, cos folks repeat the false info instead of doing their own homework. Some even have the cheek to talk abart lazy journalism.

Thanks for correcting me on that one, can’t think where I’ve got that statistic from... I still think 3 assists from the so called talisman is a joke. Frankly

Trouble is he’s been aiming at Ugbo and Badshaw all season.

Hammill has got to be in the team or on the bench , we need his experience, as was shown against Norwich when we were hanging on it was tailor made for Hammill to come on to use his experience in running down the clock , winding up the opposition & lifting the crowd , we are certainly a better outfit with him than without him & we need players who care

Not picking Hammill to start is a perfectly justifiable position. Not having on the bench just seems spiteful
