Of course it's not life and death no one said it was . We're just discussing football nothing more or less .
Yeah, I didn't know what to expect from a takeover, but they do seem quite passive at the moment. I suppose they'll take need a bit of time to get to know their employees before they start chopping and changing.
Exactly , I am pleased someone else agrees with me , to listen to some people its the end of the world , you are right its just football
If I could “ accept it” then I would take up a different pass time because it would mean I didn’t care . Barnsley F.C. are part of my life , my heart and my history so no I won’t accept the ***** that’s being served up . I work all week and my weekend revolves mainly around my football fix . Believe me I wish it didn’t disappoint me and I wish for once it didn’t spoil my whole weekend but it does and I’d rather feel crap than feel nothing at all !
It's hard to argue with this but bouncing merrily along between the Championship and league one can't be our ambition ultimately . Yes a lot of us we're brought up on Glavin and McCarthy and they were wonderful days but times have changed . We're a marvellous club that with the right ownership and leadership should be aiming higher .
The new regime appears at this point to be little different to the old one. As it stands, brief moments in the sun will be eclipsed by rather more periods of struggling unequally against the financials odds. The playing squad currently appears not to be up to Championship standard, and there are serious question marks regarding the suitability of the present coaching team and their ability to communicate their message to the players.
I get what you're saying but as poor as our squad seems it still ought to be strong enough for a tilt a the league 1 play offs. Especially if we could add another 2 or 3 ,players in key areas. All 3 of last season's relegated clubs are in the top 6 and Rotherham were even worse than us! In all honesty it's the coach that worries me. If we end up in league 1 he has to go for me.
I think this is a good league one squad. Far too premature to be saying we would struggle in league one.
I'm not convinced we'd bounce straight back up, but in balance, I think much of that is probably down to the dreadful form we've been in. The flip side is that we've got a squad who've gained a lot of experience at a higher level, a tough division, which will hopefully show if we do go down. My real concern is mindset of being in a team that rarely wins.
The plan failed because we didn’t back our players when we gained promotion. We naively waited into after promotion & then had to be mindful of relegation and therefore we didn’t offer contracts to the players on the basis that we would stay up. Once it looked like we could hold our own our players became coveted by other clubs and we could then not get the wages they could offer.
That and the failure to follow through with phase 2 of the plan, which was to recruit at a higher level in the second phase. Massive mistake which wiped out all the hard work they'd done so far.
Why does he have to be worth something at the end of it? He could have been worth a fortune in terms of value to us during that contract I’d gladly have kept Houriane until well into his 30’s
Absolutely but keeping a player who invests 5/6/7 years of his life into our club is an invaluale assett not only is it ultimately a saving on pointless other inferior players it builds loyalty within the club . compared to buying an 'old pro ' with no sell on value .
It’s easy with hindsight but we should have agreed deals before the play offs but we didn’t due to us not wanting to disrupt the focus of the team.
Darren Moore, Futch, Ian Evans, Danny Wilson. Non of them were looking for a final pay cheque in my book. The younger players around them will have learned more than any manager could impart. It's about balance. Keep the plan, but have a few old pros to show the way. PS some of those could then move to the academy, like Bobby & Disco
