Someone must've done. Hammill should be telling him about his hat trick against Italy last night if he wants a place in the team on Friday.
Honestly think he handled some difficult questions there very well about the team. Like the way he speaks and feel quite sorry for him- trying to work miracles with sub standard resources that don’t appear to want to improve. Don’t think he’s as poor as some are making out. As for hammill that’s a damp squib. He should be on the bench but he’s not the answer that’s going to keep us up.
Agree he handled the situation the best he could by turning a potentially negative story into something more positive. However, I do often get the feeling that after listening to 15 minutes of him talking every week the only thing I come away with is he wants players to "believe" more in their own ability. Which due to the lack of ability in the squad might not be the best solution. And yes put Hammill on the bench but not done enough this season to suggest he should start in my opinion.
Man under pressure for me. Clearly very much into the mental side of the game - which is no bad thing, I think it can make a bigger difference beyond tactics/formations etc. However, much of what he was saying was being spoken in riddle. I've just listened to over 16 minutes and I couldn't really summarise what's been said. The players clearly aren't getting it (hence the meetings) and this is all starting to sound a bit worrying. Hope I'm wrong. Praying for a good reaction on Friday. U Reds
What more can a manager do? Prefer that to the first half of the season their confidence being crushed by being repeatedly told they're not good enough. Flicker made that squad stay up through instilling belief in sub par players and a team spirit greater than the sum of its parts. Not Morais' fault this lot aren't interested
What chance did he ever stand if thats the stance of our 'fans' after less than 2 months with a ***** team that isn't his own. I despair.
Just personal opinion that's all. Just from the style of football I've seen over the last 8 games, coupled with the gibberish interviews (second language granted), the freezing out of certain players and the rumoured splitting of the squad. Is that ok?
I don't begrudge him trying to instil belief in the players, however, I hope he delivers a bit more tactical insight on the training ground. I'm not saying he can't be a successful manager for us, just don't think his interviews are particularly awe-inspiring or insightful. We shall see.
Sums up how I feel so far. More than willing to give the guy time though. I thought we wpuld go down before he came and i still feel the same but I don't hold him accountable for that. His interviews are terrible though, talks a lot and says nothing. If he has lost the players I'd be fairly happy if we went out and got some new ones.
I concur about the language barrier, I agree about the inheriting a squad with no chance to change it (though its a very bloated squad) and I'm in alignment with the need to have time to try and instil belief into a squad that's had its confidence smashed all season, by the ex head coach, fans and the results. That said, instilling confidence into a fan base, let alone a football team is more complex then merely saying the word "believe" approximately 300 times each interview. I've watched 27 minutes, the whole interview, and i personally feel more downbeat than before i watched it. It takes time to change styles of play and to be unable to change personnel or bring in any of his targets, that makes it doubly tough. I'm all for being persistent and giving players and coaches time... but I can also say at the same time, I'm not especially content at this moment in time either.
Totally agree. Any player not up for it ought to ask for their contract to be cancelled. I doubt one of em would be missed
I actually think that Morais means 'comfortable' rather than 'safe' (in terms of getting the players doing things; trying things; supporting one another without the 'fear' of making mistakes in what is a cauldron type environment at present - there is a lot of pressure on everyone, and working under pressure, you simply cannot afford yourself to implode, otherwise, it's game over). I think he's misunderstanding the word a little. He's a very intelligent guy, almost philosophical, but I fear that his high level of thinking might be going over a few peoples heads, perhaps including the players (I hope not), and we just need someone who can fire up the players, and get them grinding out the remaining games. I really hope things work out and he keeps us up - I genuinely like him and I think given time, a bit of backing financially and his plans coming to fruition, we could be a in a really positive place in 12-18 months time.
