I'm not pretending we're not *****, I'm saying its possible we're less ***** than those we're against. If you've decided against Millwall, imagine how Birmingham (a team you seem to think is a shoe in to go above us) felt after we beat them following a 5-0 clattering by an average Brentford.
I agree with that to be fair - there are possibly and hopefully 3 teams worse than us - there are certainly 2 in Burton and Sunderland. But Birmingham have seemingly made a positive managerial change and thumped someone who escaped me 3-0 and may be on an upward curve. We have made a managerial change and seem to be on a downward curve. Fingers crossed though.
Birmingham have won 1 out of 3 under Monk. Let’s see how they get on moving forward - they have been ***** all season.
Every time I watch them but that wasn't my point. The fact that there are another three or four teams that are as poor as us means we still have a chance of staying up - unbelievable but true. If we can cut out the Sunday league errors we can stay up. Our destiny is still in our own hands and this should be all the motivation that our professional footballers should need.
Someone gets it. He’d struck a chord, and got a balanced side. Changed the lot for Cardiff and never recovered.
Yes you are. Cheer up! Every little ting gonna be alright. Trust in Jose. Believe. I believe. The Bachelors believed. Why shouldn't Barnsley fans...?
Totally agree, we have gone from putting decent(ish) performances in, working hard, competing in games, but losing due to our lack of cutting edge, to strange changed teams, switching of formations during games. We have found someone to score goals, but can’t stop them in the other net & a massive lack of heart & passion throughout the side a at times a lack of direction & leadership in games. We need to be up for the upcoming fight & I feel this is missing. For me it’s us or Birmingham to perish, can’t see us getting the points to drag the ones above that back in. Every game is massive & we need characters & performances to match. Nervy weeks ahead.
We were poor under Hecky. We have got worse under Jose. It’s hard to see past that. 5 points from 7 games isn’t good enough. The problem is not with either coach it is with the board and the spreadsheet that felt that on top of losing good players we should not offer comparable terms to our last remaining championship quality players and push out our captain. Replacing them with 15 punts that would take time to adjust ( if they were ever good enough). I said before the season started that any HC keeping us up giving the lack of quality in the team would deserve a statue outside the Town Hall. I could see us scraping by under Hecky I can’t under Jose but am happy to be proven wrong.
I find that if the team are winning matches, people think the manager is talking sense and when we're not winning, people criticise the managers conduct in interviews. This is probably because the manager will be trying to put a positive light on everything which is okay when from the outside everything looks positive, but irks people when we're playing poorly. The same was said about Keith Hill and Lee Johnson; when we were doing well under Keith, everyone waxed lyrical about his interview style. As soon as results turned, he looked a buffoon. Keith's probably a poor example because he began blaming the fans. But Lee Johnson could do no wrong in his interviews when he first took over and the club won 5 on the bounce and got to the verge of the play-offs. He was praised for his honest and direct interview style. He was criticised for using the same style amidst the 11 or 12 game losing streak we went on.
Very good points made here. I have criticised Jose's interviews but context plays a huge part. Let's see what the weekend brings.
I don't think it was just a lack of cutting edge under hecky. We simply weren't creating chances. From my view we have created far more chances throughout games whilst Jose has been here. However, whilst offering more going forward, we inevitably look frail defensively. And with regards to changed teams, Hecky himself has been known to change formations and personnel throughout the season. Even following a victory. At least Jose had stuck to a formation and the same attacking three since Burton. We didnt win games under Hecky and we haven't under Jose. One common denominator here methinks.
I think the interview is OK. Prefer to listen to Jose than any number of managers we've had in the past. Seems like an intelligent bloke to me.
