............. to get us away from the relegation zone. Taking into account Barnsley were playing Bristol City today - a team only a few weeks ago were tipped to get promotion.
We create lots of chances but we simply cannot score enough to win a game. We also concede too easily so regardless of how good our players may, or may not be, we are bang in trouble.
This. The shooting was bloomin' awful today. 23 attempts and barely a handful troubled the keeper, not to mention the numerous other good openings that we created where we were too hesitant to even get a crappy shot in. Hopefully the players can have a lunchtime meeting tomorrow and discuss shooting!
Over 39 games we haven't been good enough. If we had been good enough where it matters we would have won comfortably today. It's OK coming on with a "told you so" post, but today doesn't add any weight to your argument, it just proves we've played well and still not managed to win. It's fine margins in some games, but it's no coincidence that we've won 7 from 39 games. Not sure about Bristol being tipped for promotion only a few weeks back either. They've won something like 2 in their last 11.
IMHO Ipswich need just 3 more points to be surely safe ( I think they are safe already, but not mathematically) ......They play Brum tomorrow and then they are left with some very tricky games ...and us.... lets hope they will do themselves and ourselves a favour tomorrow.
Birmingham are two points behind and playing an Ipswich side who might have packed up. Nowt to do wi being negative, nowt we say or do on here influences that result. All we can can do is look after our results. We did enough to win today. But ultimately let down by a player not up to standard. We have to hope we can win on Monday and other results keep going our way. Interesting you pick out my post in a sea of post slagging the Manager off again.
If they could finish more than 2 out of 20 chances a game and not **** the bed when under the cosh for 2 minutes I'd agree. But they can't, so I don't.
It's fine margins. The team aren't quite good enough but in general we don't lose by multiple goals - probably only MIllwall, Derby and Villa that I can think of where we have lost by 3 goals? Most other games have been fairly close, but too many draws that could have been wins. We've probably been let down by having weaker players in key positions for long periods of the season, like goalkeeper. It doesn't take much imagination to see we could easily be 8 points better off than we are now and looking fairly safe if certain management decisions or individual errors hadn't been made. We're not great but we're not rubbish either and considering where most of the players have come from I think they've made a pretty good attempt to cut it at this level.
