Was the reason that we dropped 2 points yesterday

Merely that we ran out of steam?

5 or 6 of the players looked absolutely shot with 15 minutes left. I keep reading that we sat back and tried to soak up the pressure, but I don't think that was intentional. The ball stopped sticking to Kieffer Moore because he simply couldn't chase it anymore.

I do agree that I think bringing McCarthy on was probably the wrong choice. Even Bradshaw up front on his own would have offered some sort of outlet.

The end of the season can't come quick enough, sadly I'm not sure where the points come from though.

We did tire yes as a huge amount of effort had gone into the game which is to the players credit. Slightly concerning that some can’t play for 60 mins but never mind.

When it comes to we threw the points away because a player who should be fresh didn’t close down quickly enough and the goal keeper plays with his eyes shut

I suppose it all boils down to inexperience of the intensity of this level. To ask a squad of players who have never played as many games as this at this level was always bound to take its toll. Kieffer Moore being the most obvious example. It's a shame to be critical of him because he was our best player, but maybe the reason he doesn't seem to have the energy for more than 70 minutes is because he simply isn't used to Championship football week in week out.

I wasn’t particularly thinking about him. I think he got a knock that he couldn’t recover from - another unpunished foul

It was a definite factor. Had Moore still been on he was doing a great job both up front and defending crosses. There is a good chance that Yids at right back would have stopped the cross But it’s all irrelevant we were knackered. But still rallied for the last 5 mins and still could have won it

I think he was suffering from cramp

There's so many things you could point to.

We should have been 4 or 5 goals to the good by the time they made it 2-2.
They should have been down to 10 men after 5 minutes.
Yiadom/McCarthy shouldn't have given the City player so much time/space for the first and second City goals respectively.
Davies should have done better than flap the ball into his own net for the second goal.

It was a much, much improved performance from recent games but once again the outcome was the same and that really is all that matters at this stage of the season.

    Good summary.

We haven't had the rub of the green with refereeing decisions.

I wasn't there yesterday, but looks like we gave everything.
Sadly looks to me like we are destined for the drop.

Failure to sign a better keeper, instead of buying the Mido like figure of Knasmullner probably the nail in the coffin.
Clearly yet another keeper error for the second, but too much space given for both goals. Yiadom at fault too.

I can't see us picking more than 5 more points up this season & that will not be enough.
If Brum win today I think we are fecked. We just can't kill a game off when we are on top.
That isn't some thing i can blame Jose for, as we were the same under Head-in-bottom.
Lack of stamina, killer instinct, quality & to some degree luck.

I'd also add.. whether folk like it or not.. if Moore had scored half of the other chances he had, it wouldn't have made any difference Bristol' Last minute goal
He ran his blood to water, which is admirable.. but he's a lower league forward who needs half a dozen chances just to stick one in..
Not slagging him.. just a indication of where we are as a club at present..

Looked like McBurnie & Potts missed good chances as well. Agree he's not a killer finisher, or Mick wouldn't have let him go, but he does offer something we have been lacking all season in the aerial department.

Our ability to give away goals in the last few minutes has been our downfall all season. We do not seem fit enough to play 90 minutes and our full backs are all poor at closing wingers/wing backs down.

Goals conceded in last 10 mins that have cost us points:

Away at Wolves (1-2) - 1 point dropped
Home to QPR (1-1) - 2 points dropped
Home to Cardiff (0-1) - 1 point dropped
Home to Fulham (1-2) - 1 point dropped
Home to Brizzle (2-2) - 2 points dropped

Goals scored in last 10 mins that have gained us points:

Home to Reading (1-1) - 1 point gained

    Mentally weak, especially at Oakwell.

Like Moore a lot - but his fitness is poor from what I've seen. Was the same at the end of the Hull match where we really tired and he just stopped competing for balls.

Kieffer Moore played for Yeovil in this division and less so for Ipswich.

McBurnie doesn't seem to be a 90 minute man either.

My point was that he hasn't had a regular 40 game season at the intensity of the Championship before. Or league 1 for that matter.

His seasons for Yeovil and Ipswich in the Championship he played a combined 33 games.

This season he's played 25 games for Rotherham and 13 for us. He's never played 38 games in a season before, and the only time he's come close to that is in non league football. You can just see it in him when he seems to hit the wall, he slows to a trudge when out of possession and looks over to the bench to see if he's being replaced.

I don't want to be over critical on the guy because the effort and determination he put in for 80 minutes yesterday was 2nd to none.
