    I am all for equality but things are starting to really get out of hand.

    Err I know not everyone understands music but guys, the clue is in the name... MALE VOICE choir. There are plenty about especially in Wales I seem to remember. There are also ladies choirs and mixed choirs.

    As for the Derbyshire chief constable moaning about "incompatibility with policy" he really needs to get a grip and concentrate on running his police force efficiently.

    I don't see the problem. No-one is saying male voice choirs can't exist, the employer just made a decision that it was incompatible with their policy. The choir was offered a choice, they chose to sever the link and continue as a male voice choir. There seems to be no ill feeling on either side so I really don't see the issue.

    Exactly this. I can see why the police force asked for women to be allowed to join as it is under their name and they have female members. Equally, the reasons the choir gave to not change made sense and so together they came up with a solution that works for both parties. I don't think sorting something amicably with everyone being happy with the result paints a particularly damning picture of the UK.

    Sorry. Disagree. The use of Equal Opps policy in this instance to ban the MVC representing the Police is ridiculous and pandering to current PC mania (pardon the pun) . I assume you have no particular interest in music. A male voice choir has a distinctive sound as does a ladies choir. This particular MVC has raised thousands pf pounds for charity. Why not form a ladies choir and/or a mixed voice one if they are so sensitive to equality policy? I suspect though, it may simply be the new CC is trying to make his mark.

    The members of the male only choir didn’t want to do that so the Police felt no longer able to lend it official support

    I don’t see how it affect your life negatively so no need to gi thi sen an ulcer whittling abart it

    Personally I can’t see why a bloke in that position is making waves when probably nobody cared.
    Male voice choirs are a ‘thing’ as are all female and mixed gender ones.
    Why do people have to mess with traditions just to be PC.
    Looking at the average age of the blokes in that picture it wasn’t going to be a long standing problem anyway!

    Typical of this board of mainly lefties ! Don’t mention the words Equality diversity or any other PC nonsense because you just know what the thread will turn into ! Not allowed to have an opinion on here , anything that deviates from the lefty message will be jumped all over ! Common sense went through the window some time ago mores the pity !
