the teams that came up from L1 last season lie 8th, 9th and 20th in the Champ. The teams that were relegated from Champ all lie in the top 4 in L1 - that includes a team that did disasterously last season. If we go down, even with this squad, we will be back soon. If we do well in L1, keep players, we should be OK in Champ. I think the key to success is not flair players, its cohesive and relentless teamwork and energy. If we have both that would be better. Look at Millwall and Sheff U, I would say limited flair but good teamwork. I don't understand why everyone was surprised by how well we did in our first season up. When the team got disturbed, we bombed. All is not doom and gloom. 7 games left and 21 points to play for. Time for some Barnsley DNA to come through. And if we don't make it, we'll be back - soon.
McBurnie and Yiadom will be off. Of the rest I'd keep hold of Keiffer for League One but not too many of the rest. All down to recruitment for me, and the new owners could be interpreted as wanting to run the club on the same lines as Patrick Cryne. So we'll need a lot of luck on that front.
Not wishing to be all negative but Sunderland fans thought they'd walk it back to the Premier League.
Did they? Loads I heard on 5 live / talk sport were all doom & gloom & thought they could go down again
Not the ones that I know! I’ve family in the north east, dad was from consett. 50/50 Mackems magpies. The mackems amongst them number exactly none who are surprised at the current league position. Before we played them at the well earlier in the season my great uncle messaged me and said ‘get ready for the easiest three points you will get, we will fold as soon as you exert any kind of pressure’. He wasn’t wrong. He did think Coleman would turn it around mind.
Their message board in the Summer was full of We’ll do better in the pub league etc. I suppose all of us can take the odd piece of info and use it to make our point, me included. I’m only passing on what I read.
