Regardless of the division we’re in, the spine of the team will be broken up again. Yiadom, Gardner, Williams and McBurnie likely to not be here. Hammill is a question mark still. Then there’s other lads on loan or outof contract that I’ve not even looked at. There’s a lot that will be here, but the spine could be broken up.
Think we'll be able to sign Gardner whatever league we're in. Stay up and the first priority should be breaking the bank to sign McBurnie.
As much as I’d love to see him here again, I think with McBurnie there’s no chance. Gardner could be a good shout though. I’d like to see him here again but I’m not sure what sort of wage he’ll be on at his parent club.
Yiadom will come down to who comes in for him. Likely suitors will pay lots more. Gardner possibly - don’t think he’ll get back in at Villa. Williams - maybe, but only if he gets a minimum number of starts. McBurnie - highly unlikely, money won’t come into it as much, it’ll be league position. Then we have to see who Hecky comes in for..... Who else is out of contract? Bradshaw?
Bradshaw still has another year after this season as does moncur is be offering Jackson a extension as I think he only has a year after this one too. And that' if hecky is still in a job under some serious pressure now carried his poor form over to Leeds.
We won't sign Yiadom or McBurnie. Gardiner a reasonable target. If we pull off the miracle & stay up, which I agree is a hell of a lot more likely today, we do need to buy 4/5 quality players. Goal keeper & another striker are the key two.
Obviously it's a long shot, but if the new owners show some intent and strengthen with quality across all areas, you never know. At the end of the day, we all know what a solid but unspectacular settled side can do in this league - see Millwall. If we stay up, the traumatic experience of this season will more than likely do a lot of our young lads a lot of good as far as character building goes. Certainly with a couple of additions I wouldn't expect anything like the struggles of this season. But I'm getting ahead of myself here. Six games left to do the job in hand. I'm certainly confident that we CAN do it. Whether we will remains to be seen of course
I think he is a bit out of our reach he will be a +£20k a week player and we don't have enough season ticket sales to cover that kind of salary increase. I think that is the issue if we want to progress, we need a full house every week then players will want to come and we could then start paying the money, it is a big risk the other way as in pay big wages and hope the crowds follow.
With respect, money is not going to come into it. He’ll have a host of teams after him who are genuinely more competitive than us, and where he will still start each game. The teams who missed out on promotion this year, plus some of the lower Prem teams. Even if we match any wages, I don’t think we can compete on top 6 in the league - not yet anyway.
