Afternoon, Just bought a new house, and as far as furniture goes, I'm only getting a say in the TV. I have a max budget of around £600, so want to get the best spec I can for the money. I have done a little research myself and I should be able to get a decent 4K, HDR set for that price, although I appreciate i'm not going to get an OLED or such within my budget. I was looking at either Samsung or LG, however then got a call from a friend who can get staff discount on Sony goods. I read Samsung use VA panels, which are apparently better for darker blacks, than the LG IPS panels. So was leaning towards Samsung. I have access to 4K films etc before anyone asks why the emphasis on such a specification TV So my questions for the techies on here would be: Out of LG, Samsung or Sony which would be the preferred brand? I will be sitting approx 3-4m from the TV, so either 49/50" or 55"? Which brand has the best operating system I.e Tizen, Web OS or Android? Cheers
check out ASDA https://direct.asda.com/george/home...C02,default,sc.html?prefn1=smartTv&prefv1=Yes we have the 50 " one and its great, but would recommend a sound bar as the built in sound is not that clever. Also Tesco have some decent ones too https://www.tesco.com/direct/techno...4540003.cat?icid=tvhomecinema_manuallhn_slot9
Don't know much about tv's myself but are any of these any good http://stores.ebay.co.uk/tescooutlet/4k-tvs-/_i.html?_fsub=11215944014&_sid=983611004
We are a 5 TV household (ooooooh, get me) and they are all Samsung. Oldest is 6 years old (flat but not Smart) an newest was bought at Xmas. It is a ue32m5620, is stuck on my bedroom wall and is great. Startup is instantaneous, screen quality is brilliant, freeview HD ............ very slim and posh looking. Like me. So I don't have an issue with Samsung, and I have nothing against other makes, it's just that I seem to stick with, and am happy with, Samsung. (only issue with Samsung was customer service with current newest model - it didn't come with a bracket fixing kit, and it was a sod to source and buy one. All sorted now, but no help from Samsung).
A bit more than you wanted to spend but this is a fantastic set: http://www.reliantdirect.co.uk/Tele...MU7000-55-UHD-4K-Smart-LED-TV_UE55MU7000.htm? Use the code: SAVE30 to reduce it to £729 Comes with 5 years warranty and also a free national team football shirt by redemption.
I'd say go with Samsung, had a couple and they've always been much better than when I've seen others at others houses. It depends what youre going to watch really, but good spec Samsung blacks are really quite good. I've had an issue on my current one where some of the lighting has gone in a band across the screen causing a slight shadow, but its still bright enough that it only really shows when almost a pure white background. I'd suggest you look at the refresh rate, that will help reduce lag. But £600 on a Samsung, I reckon you'll get a pretty decent telly. If you're struggling, try and track down a Richer Sounds. They are seriously helpful, even if you don't end buying anything from there.
I’ve got a 40” Samsung 4K jobby quality picture easy to operate cost £400 on Black Friday reduced from £650 from John Lewis, Toshiba are decent had one before this one, quality picture but it wasn’t a smart TV.
I have a Samsung ju6800 4k 50 inch, if its still on sale I'd recommend. A mega thread on it from folk who know what they're on about. https://www.avforums.com/threads/samsung-ue-ju6800-4k-tv-owners-thread.1979754/ Whatever TV you decide on make sure you get the calibration settings for it, otherwise its pointless having 4k.
I've got a curved 49in Samsung 4k for 599 from John Lewis in December 2016. Sound is great and 4k stuff is amazing. Model is: UE49KU6100.
Just stay away from LG. We bought one of their 4k Smart TVs a couple of years ago and it broke and required sending back... 3 times. Got shut of it for good in the end.
I would strongly recommend a hisense TV It is China’s leading brand I think and they’re trying to break through in Europe so undercutting Samsung etc I bought a 65 inch 4K one a few years ago for 699 and I think you can get similar now I bought a couple more 55 inch ones and they’re great too - you could get one of those for under 400 I think
In the market for a big TV myself. Narrowed it down to Samsung Mu7000, Sony XE90 or Panasonic EX750b. All are VA panels (better blacks, narrower viewing angle). Might be a little over your budget. Smart platform wise, down to personal preference really. All offer the same services, wrapped up in a different skin. I like Android TV but apparently it's a bit laggy on the Sony TVs so others not a deal breaker for me. HotUkDeals best place to look for a bargain.
Bought a Samsung 55” curved 4K late last year. It’s great, views good from all round the room, the curve also makes it better when sunlight reflects through the window.
