Jesus Christ. Liam 'reactions of a sloth and can't pass water' Lindsay is or Joe 'the crab' Williams. That really shows how bad this season has been
Jesus would love to see what your reactions are like then LOL, also these stats prove Lindsay and Williams been are best players IMO
We have to have a player of the year. For me Yiadom gets it as the other 3 quality players this season (Jackson, McBurnie & Moore) have played less than half a season. Potts has done well. Lindsay also has had a good season. Good defender. Distribution needs work. The analysis says it all. We are a poor team at Championship level. We could stay up though, as there are 5 sh!te teams.
I'm going for Potts for effort, improvement and turning the majority of fans including me back on his side. 2nd Yiadom even though he has known all season that he is leaving his commitment has never faulted, 3rd Jackson a player who is brave committed and consistent.
Those stats prove **** all. They prove that Joe Williams made a lot of passes but it does not give any indication of the direction or difficulty of the pass. It says that Liam Lindsay has made most interceptions but then as the main not regular starting defender he should have. It is literally his job. They have both had poor seasons in a squad full of players who have had poor seasons.
Leading goalscorer (despite largely being played as a lone striker in a system that did him no favours). Never failed to put a full shift in. Scored a huge goal in our recent win against Blades. And yet Bradshaw has barely had a mention in this thread and nobody - including me - has voted for him... ...unless you know different?
Obviously I do not get to watch The Reds these days after moving to Colorado in 2011 but I listen to most weekend games. I do follow and watch our local team, Colorado Rapids. Last season the team were that bad that the club awarded the fans the Player of the Year, maybe this should be an option. I know we still have a few players that have performed well but not constantly at Barnsley and I am still thinking we will stay in the Championship next season and hopefully a win on Saturday will help the fight. Onwards and upwards COYR
They’ve not had poor seasons at all. They’re championship novices. Lindsay’s only played in Scotland & Williams had never played professional football before. For two young lads stepping up in levels to play so many games & be 2 of the best players in the team & basically take on the role of leading the defence & midfield they’ve both had exceptional seasons. The problem is most of our squad are championship novices, there should be only about 4 or 5 new young players not the 15 or 16 we brought in which would complement an experienced rest of the team in normal circumstances. We should be relegated this season. We’ve lost 8 of our starting 11 within a year & replaced them with kids with little / no championship experience on one of the lowest wage budgets in the league whilst losing our manager & having a change in ownership. Anything other than relegation this season is a great season for these young lads stepping up for the first time
Man that was a depressing thing to do, but I do it every year so I feel I have to vote. Players in contention for me were Yiadom, Lindsay, Jackson, Williams, Moore and McBurnie. None of them have had 'good' seasons by any stretch, but all showed some aptitude at some point. Lindsay and Jackson for me have shown some quality, and perhaps more importantly, leadership - in short bursts. But nowhere near often enought to vote them POTY. Yiadom is a good player, but I just expected more after last season. Moore for the last 4-5 games has looked like a beast of a target man, and if that's the standard he stays at he'll be POTY next year whatever divison we're in. I've actually voted for McBurnie, despite the fact he's played so small a part in the seaon. He's head and shoulders above the rest in terms of quality, and has provided a large proportion of the moments to get excited about. Am I actually reading that Potts, Hammill and Gardner shoudl be in the running?!!! That proper hammers home how bad it's been!
What I conclude from that is that Lindsay, Bradshaw and Williams all top the stats charts because they've played the most games. I just don't get the hype over Lindsay and Williams. Lindsay is described as a ball playing centre half, but the only pass he seems to complete comfortably is a 10 yards sideways pass to another defender. Anything further than that and he puts it out of play.
I went for McBurnie, because he's the main reason we're not relegated already. If only Swansea hadn't spent all summer f*cking about, we could be much higher up the table about now.
Why is it? Over the last few months he’s been at fault for a shed load of goals, along with a few others but he’s got away with it. People still talk about him being worth millions. Until he starts defending properly and for full games he’s worth **** all. I’ll say it again, I think the lads got potential but at the moment that’s all it is. He’s a consistent part of a back 4 that’s shipping goals for fun and he’s a major part of it. So you can shove your ‘rubbish’ comment up your ar$e.
Its a tough choice this year, however, ive gone for Adam Jackson. He very rarely lets us down and is our most improved player. He has come on massively since last year. First choice centre back for me.
