Remember how bad it felt 4 years ago, going down to Lg One after a few years of struggling and constantly losing matches. I think we all tried to take some consolation from it didnt we and we hoped Lg One would be a new and decent challenge, rather than something to dread.
Well when you look at our promotion season we did indeed come back to this level and we were much better and stronger for it. However, none of us were to know then just how badly the club would act in selling off all of our assets, and replacing them with utter garbage.
My point anyway is, do any of us think this will work out for the best again in a few years time and will we once again come back better and stronger ?. (and yes I think we all know we're down now!)

Last time I thought it was for the best. This time I think it’ll be a disaster.

Because of the new owners and their obvious lack of connection with the town ?.

Under the new regime we might have been in a position to compete in this league so from my perspective relegation is a big set back. I'm not looking forwards to league one in any way whatsoever.

The fact that it was all so avoidable and that most of the damage is self inflicted makes the frustration all the more palpable.

There is a sensible approach - appoint a manager who can build a squad in league 1. Hurst from Shrewsbury perhaps. We aren’t going to attract a McCarthy or similar proven ilk from championship or above. Although if Mick wanted a less “in The firing line” job for the next 5 year until retirement then director of football would be ideal. But reckon he has one more championship promotion in him.

For the “Nice” model to work then the owners have to have competent people running the football club. They want to be hands off. Otherwise we’ll see more barmy signings and crazy managerial appointments.

If I was running a multi million pound business I would start at the top and work down. If they start now then we have a fighting chance of being ready for L1.

Pretty much. I also think that the fans were beaten ( I don’t feel that this time) and needed to readjust and we needed to change our ways as a club. We changed them and ended up back where we were. Depressing.

We have given this guy an 18 month contract. Let him get on with it.

Disappointing though it is, I have felt for months that this is how it would end. The lowest points being vs Burton and Millwall. Losing tonight was just underlining what has been written on the wall for months even since PH was on the losing streak. We will see next season what our new board are made of. Personally I don't think JM is the answer. Ideally I would like to see Mick Mc Carthy as manager not coach .. Trying to form a team he has selected.. It won't happen though.

“We”? You mean the CEO and James gave him an 18 month contract. If they realise the error of their way they come out with a modicum of respect in my eyes. If their pig ignorance means they stand by the decision “They” made then they are even more incompetent than they look at the moment for appointing him without due care and attention.

    In my opinion.

Get on with what though, what exactly has Jose done thats so positive and deserves to be rewarded with the rest of his contract ?.
(and by the way this is not me trying to say his predecessor was/is much better)

I agree that we must look at the strengths that are out there, people who will have knowledge of Lg One and who might be tempted to join us if we can call ourselves a bigger club than where they are at the moment. Graham Alexander has been mentioned and I also suggested Stuart McCall the other day, they know what it takes to be in and near the top 6.

I wouldnt exactly call it a good thing Jack, it never feels good to see our team go through this. But if it can lead to what we did the last time when we went down, then it could be a case of needing to go backwards for a bit, in order to come forwards and be better than before. Know what I mean ?.

Balls to that, I’ll start the whip round to pay him off.

And if there isn’t a get out in the case of relegation then Ganaye and Cryne jnr should be removed for gross incompetence. They are close to deserving it for appointing him in the first place.
