You say - ‘Barnsley arnt a rich club, its owners are’. They are actually one and the same. The owners will choose how rich the club is. That is to say - the owners will choose how much to spend. But if a club hasn't the money to spend then they can’t spent it - eg Sheffield United. Unless of course they are the type of club that is desperate and spends money that they haven’t actually got - eg Bolton Wanderers. Barnsley is potentially one of the richest clubs in the country. In saying that - I do not want the club to throw daft money about bringing in highly paid players. I believe their intentions are to continue to bring in young players - which I agree with. Im presuming most of these will be from the continent. But they will probably have to pay a sizabe amount to get a good manager.
So Chris Wilder is going to leave his home city club the Blunts and come here is he ?. To a club who have run themselves into the ground by making one appallingly bad decision after another for the last 17 months. And who are now heading for the alehouse league again. Chris Wilder is coming here ... ohh is it April fools or Comic relief day today.
Brilliant CV really!! look a little more closely and don't be blinded by his time as the other Jose's bag carrier. As the man in charge it's a car crash of a CV and whoever recruited him was obviously like you blinded by his time under the other Jose.
I really think they did take too much into consideration his friendship with Jose Mourinho and were blinked from that. Add into the equation Klopp at Liverpool and his close affiliation with Wagner at Hudds. Maybe they thought our story would emulate that of Huddersfelds? Nope, not going to happen... I'm like a broken record on this, but the best out there who we could realistically get.. Experience of getting out of league 1 or indeed surviving on a budget (bar this season).... Nigel Clough.. Make it happen Mr Lee for next season.
Doesn't take much to get the feeling good factor back. Look at Charlton Athletic for example. They currently have a club legend in charge and have announced 200 quid season tickets for next season. Could be for championship football too.
Has tha lost the plot completely !!! I’ve never said Wilder is coming here. I’m saying we should be looking at managers with his credentials. And we now have the purchasing power to get managers like that if we want them.
Trouble is, most managers who have had that success are managing clubs higher up the football pyramid... Broken record again from me but Clough is best option at the moment..
For a start I was of course just being sarcy!. The mere suggestion though that he/Wilder would want to come here even if we did show an interest in him, well thats just comedy gold yet again YN. Whats worrying though is your serious aren't you.
The same Nigel Clough who was one of the managers that failed to get Sheff utd out of division one over a period of 6 years
Obviously you have no confidence in Chien Lee and the new board of directors whatsoever. I do. But it’s far from the first thing I’ve said that I’ve been berated for - only to be proved right at a later date. Some people can see only as far as their nose. I need to take a note of what the likes of Acido Tyke says so I can remind them at a later date. A short sighted thick foooker.
Tell thi what. Every 6 months have a look back at what I was saying at that time and then decide. Not everything comes true - but most of it does. Example - a few months ago I was banging on that on the face of it there was a poor relationship between GeeGee and Hecky. I got banned off here as I kept banging on about it because I could see something bad happening on the horizon. Last Satdi Hecky says the club (GeeGee) was bang out of order for saying what they said when he left Barnsley. What did GeeGee say: He said the club was surprised and disappointed. In other words Hecky was saying that Barnsley were neither surprised or disappointed. Now I’m saying - Barnsley directors will - within reason - get ANY manager they want. They would probably get a manager such as Wilder if they wanted him. And IMO this is the type of manager they should be after i.e. tried and tested.
I believe you're a director of a company. Are the financial assets of that company one in the same as your personal finances?
Even if he was a 100% shareholder in said company his individual wealth is completely different to the corporate wealth of what is an entirely separate legal entity.
