2 clean sheets in a row - does he think they are like busses? Also we haven't won 2 games in a row for ages - have we done it at all since the disastrous January 2017
I'd take that, though it would be an absolutely horrendous last day by way of nerves. Personally, I think Bolton will win, even though their fans are convinced they've got no chance. Can Burton win four on the bounce? Unlikely, but by no means impossible. Still think we'll need to win. Fingers crossed Derby will be an absolute bag of nerves. Their recent form has been pretty patchy, so it's by no means impossible we can go there and win. If I was a Brum fan I'd be absolutely bricking it right now. FFS, a point each from Forest and Leeds and we'd be as good as safe already, needing only to play out a gentlemanly draw on Sunday.
A lot of it will come down to bottle I think... I wouldn't like to bet on any final placings come Sunday
It's Bolton game that has me worried. But then I also fear us going 2 or 3 down in the first half and Preston giving up. I hate these situations.
In bleak moments, I can see us storming into a 2 goal lead within the first ten minutes, only to conceded 3 goals in the last 10 minutes to lose 3-2, while the other teams all pull off 1-0 wins.
These days rarely pass off without major incident or very late goals. As long as we're comfortably ahead or both Bolton and Burton are getting hammered going into the last five minutes I'll be quite calm!
Best we can hope for is Burton defeat, Bolton draw as pretty convinced we have zip chance of points. It's the hardest fixture of the three.
As much as I was really pleased with the Brentford performance (they looked pretty on the ball did Brentford but we excellently restricted them to half sniffs and let them play in front of us) and of course the result, if I’m honest I’m thinking it might be a bridge too far Sunday. Bolton look to have a much much more attractive fixture - though will they cope with the pressure? If we do survive it’ll be on no more than 44 points, possibly 41 or 42, so we’d have to concede that we’d been a little fortunate to have three teams with a worse record than that. I’d take a defeat and all the rest lose all day long mind you. Having been resigned to relegation (I know, must not be a proper fan...), if we did pull it off it would be a lovely bonus. I’ve renewed planning on league one football. Championship football at what I’ve paid would be most welcome.
I expect there will be a goal that crucial at the end - like the Palace one was for us in the great escape season The only way we wont find the last 10 mins stressful is if we are 3 down and bolton or burton are 3 up as we go to the last 10 mins.
Agreed. If that happened it would be summer ruined. As long as we stay up nothing else matters. But if Reading and Birmingham could go down that would do.
