We struggled to find clubs to loan our players , be even harder trying to sell them

Same thread about the same player and less than 2 days between. Think we have this seasons scapegoat. I thought when he 1st came and hecky played him as a lone striker Wednesday away was it? He had been hung out to dry, I don't think he is upto it as a striker but on the wing he showed some promise a assist away at brum a big part in the 2nd at brum. A part in mcburnie goal at hull and put some decent balls in on his other games on the wing. for me mowatt would be the 1st one out. But I'd happily leave it for the next manager/head coach to make his mind up.

He's had more than enough time to get his head straight and has not bothered to. Let's see what the market thinks he's worth.

Agree blaming Thiam is silly. Need to blame the genius that decided we needed a squad full of unproven young players. It's a miracle we nearly stayed up.
As for Thiam he looked ok in a few games on the wing he also during the period looked completely useless. More than once tripping over the ball and mis controlling the ball numerous times.
If he stays I will continue to hope he comes good but he has by and far looked truly awful.

I agree he has talent and his problems are his own application. I see no reason why any of that will change in league one. He needs to go.

I find it very interesting that numerous posters are saying we should get rid of numerous different players , players who the same posters were demanding this time last year that the club learn their lesson & tye down to long contracts . Its not easy moving players on who are under a decent contact , Jack Rodwell being an example at Sunderland . When we sign a player who turns out to be a decent signing , fans say we should have given him a longer contract , but when we give out longer contracts to players who turn out to be duffers then the fans say get shut , its a balancing act to which the club seem to get it the neck which ever way it goes , if only they had a crystal ball that worked !

For me, this is where we went badly wrong. Folly to save a few quid on wages on players you've a chance of keeping, then blow millions on agents, signing on fees, transfer fee and weekly wages and bonuses.

The sad thing is every person who left will now feel vindicated. Such a waste. Such a terrible terrible waste.

Not sure who we had a chance of keeping? Possibly Scowen if you believe the rumours.

Don't forget we regularly avoid paying out obscene fees to agents. I think we were bottom of the Championship for fees paid last year?

    This.

Particularly as we sign younger players who could have careers that go either way much easier than seasoned pros.

Typically yes, but we've recruited more from the continent, so that may have changed. Not to mention the loan "transfer" fees many clubs get now.

I think we had a chance with Roberts, Marley and Scowen. Not nailed on by any means, but when you consider the money we've frittered, frightening on such a low turnover base.

We chose to sell Roberts who still had a year left on his contract. No new contract was ever offered to him.

Give me Pinnock and 3 million quid over the limited Roberts any day of the week.

I still think Thiam is badly unfit to be honest. A bit like Potts really, I wouldn't say overweight exactly but his lack of fitness has always been a problem and has never been sorted.
I think he/Thiam started to show his best promise as one of the front 3, but there were too many changes anyway, and no players are going to improve under such pathetic coaching & tactics.

Not sure why/how he can still be unfit after 9 months of training and matches.

Adam Davies looked like a goalkeeper who as never played in goal on many occasions this season. How much of that is down to confidence I don't know but I'm not going to start a thread every other day giving my reasons why we should get rid 1st. You could start a thread like this for every player in the squad bar 3 or 4. Jackson was last season's scapegoat but I think he would be the 1st center back on teams sheet if all fit and we had a game Saturday for me. It's been a bad season don't worry the new manager will decide who he wants and doesn't.

I think it could still be a 'Wait and See' on the money that we appear to have frittered away. Yes we were let down in our transfer strategy but I also think Hecky and Jose let us down with their performance levels as Head Coach. It's possible we could still see some value in some of the players we signed, and it only takes one or two to work to justify the rest. McGeehan, Mallan, Lindsay and Pinnock could all yet turn out to be worthwhile signings. Who knows though.

Loan fees have always existed but I'm not convinced we paid any for our loans. Just the standard rumour that it cost us money everytime they didn't play (hence the subs always being loan players).
