Theres plenty of young hungry managers in L1 and L2 with something to prove. From graham alexander to the cowleys. Anyone of them id be happy with. Just not cotterill. Or a similar type of name. Id rather have Thatcher in charge than that wastrel.
Jack Ross for me too. Someone at the time kindly posted links with him talking at length about his approach at St Mirren and it was extremely impressive. The key things for me are that we either give full ownership to the manager and we back him. He can then recruit to fit a team and a squad he thinks is required to be promoted and go beyond. Alternatively, we once more set out, or revisit what the Barnsley DNA and style and system is going forward, and we recruit a manager that fits in with that style and approach, and collectively, recruitment is adhered to that allows that style and approach to succeed. Recruiting 37 attacking midfielders to then play 4-4-2.... not the way forward! And its a while since a Barnsley team less fitted the ethos of fans. Building block 1 is hard work and endeavour. Maybe that spreadsheet column was accidentally deleted when running the rule over targets
How many of our players or managers live in town ? None would be my guess so that’s not really an argument and the BBC has moved a lot of stuff to Salford anyway . He could start an absolute revolution at Oakwell . If he was announced tomorrow I guarantee this board would be wetting it’s collective knickers at the very thought . Alternatively a Paul Scholes type . UTR
League plague one at a club with our resources would be a steadier starting point for him. Anybody on twitter? We could always ask him if he’s interested
So you'd be OK with Mark McGee Kevin Blackwell or Chris Mogan - Id also cross of Appleton etc Personally I like the look of Jack Ross but dont have a strong view Warburton or Rossler or Alexander would also be OK for me but I think we will go continental
Nah, you're right, Dave, I wouldn't. Cotterill was the only name I could think of who may actually be considered for the post. The three you've mentioned wouldn't, in my opinion.
Would leave that to DW but initials are the same as the manager that took us into prem lol. Seriously though watching him under woy he seemed to have the respect of the England players
He certainly does but I think it would be hard to prize him away , I think he likes being slightly behind the scenes . Agnew is now at Villa , Steve Bruce snapped him up as soon as he could .
Jack Ross. Superb job done at St. Mirren. Scottish LMA Manager of the year as well, so clearly held in high regard by his peers. Suspect we have burned our bridges on that one though with the way we dicked him about last time. If he showed initial interest, which he did, he should have been our number 1 choice from the outset. However, if his head is not now anti Barnsley then the timing works better for him now. He finished the job he started at St. Mirren and doesn't now risk a relegation on his CV. Failing Jack Ross then, Uwe Rossler or Mark Warburton
