My opinion for what it's worth and would like your guys views as well. Looking at the squad :-

    GK: Davies
    RB: McCarthy / Cavare
CB: Lindsay / Pinnock / Jackson / Pearson
    LB: Fryers / Pinillos
    RM/LM: Mottley-Henry / Isgrove / Hedges
    CM: McGeehan / Mowatt / Bird / Moncur / Potts / Mallan / Knasmullner
ST: Brown / Thiam / Bradshaw / Moore / Adeboyejo

Out of contract: Townsend (announced as leaving) / Walton / Mills (announced as leaving) / Yiadom / Hammill / Tuton

Now some of you may not agree with what I say but I'm in the thought process of not making huge changes and bringing in 3 or 4 new players.

In terms of leaving I'd say Mowatt / Mallan / Thiam and loan out Brown & Mottley-Henry. I would love for Yiadom to stay but he will be leaving no doubt and I also think Bradshaw will have some suitors in the Championship but hopefully he stays cause him and Moore would do very well in League 1.

As it seems per Hammill's Mrs , he's leaving so all the best to him.

I do feel the defenders we have are more than capable of doing well in League 1.

The CM's we have do have the ability of doing well in League 1.

In terms of GK I do think Davies is a good League 1 GK and we should without fail get Walton signed up who would excel next season.

I would be looking at bringing in 2 wingers a striker (2 if Bradshaw leaves) and an experienced CM.

Top 3 choice for Manager would be :- McCarthy , Hurst or Alexander.

    Thoughts ?

Good post. I'd keep Mallan though Think he could be a big asset if given a chance in league 1.like most of our central midfielders though would need a scowen type of player next to him

Agree with a lot of that. Would not sell Mallan though, do think he could be good next season his set pieces and creativity could be key. I would keep him over McGeehan and maybe would loan Cameron out again if we could maybe to a lower League 1 side or a top League 2 side to get him some confidence and game time back.

I may have been a little harsh on Mallan I was going more off his physique think he’s too small cause in League 1 he has the ability but in terms of the work rate and toughness required, I’m not sure he’s up to that. Great shout on the Scowen type figure to complement the CM’s we have already.

Let's face it our central midfield has been dogger all season. We've depended on playing two loanees and 3 in Central midfield, because our own midfielders simply aren't up to it.

You might say, they will be better with a season together under their belt (knassmulner/mcgeehan!! ) and that league one isn't as good as the championship, but whose gonna be playing end to end for 90 minutes, putting their body on the line at one end and getting beyond the strikers at the other 1 minute later? Moncur? Mallen?
Whose going to be winning those 50/50's in the middle of the park then spraying it 50 yards to the wing or threading little through balls through? Potts?

All our midfielders are bit part players, we need some proper all rounders in there

I’d stick with most of them. Need to remember they’re all young lads & because of the previous situations they came into a club with no settled team.

In my opinion the worst thing we can do is get rid of a load of them & make massive losses on them.

Keep most of them whilst adding a striker or two depending on whether Bradshaw leaves, at least one holding midfielder, one winger, one left back & possibly a new goalkeeper just because I’ve not seen enough of Walton to know if he’s ready to be first choice at a league one club. Might do Davies’ confidence the world of good been back in league one level & hopefully playing in a successful club.

    Goalies - Walton, Davies
    RB - McCarthy, Cavare
CB - Lindsay, Pinnock, Jackson, Pearson,
LB - Fryers & new left back
CM - Bird, Moncur, Mallan, McGeehan, Potts, Knasmullner & new centre mid
Wingers - Isgrove, Hedges, Thiam & new wide man
Strikers - Moore, Bradshaw & 1 or 2 new strikers depending on Bradshaw

Departing - Hammill, Yiadom, Pinilos, Townsend, Mills, Mowatt, (loans of Gardner, Williams, Mahoney & McBurnie ending) & then possibly Bradshaw & Knasmullner & Cavare as I can’t see the last two playing in league one

I'd keep pinnock Jackson and kiefer. The rest either won't be staying or are free to leave for me

I think the centre-backs are fine, and Moore and Bradshaw with either Moncur or Mallan playing behind them will be fine. The rest of the team is okay, hopefully McGeehan will be able to take up a spot in Midfield. Definitely think three at the back is the way to go, wing backs bombing up.

Hoping the new manager will adopt this formation as well.

I honestly think we have a good squad for this League, so I’m expecting them all to be sold, and us to loan in 8 players in July.
