......... because it’s laughable if that’s what some people are thinking.

The combined wealth of this board is going on for £15 BILLION.
A few million here and there is equivalent to most of us having a few quid in our pocket to go for a pint.
For example - any money coming from the Alfie Mawson sell on deal would be nice but it’s insignificant.

Can I make this clear - these directors have come together to buy Barnsley Football Club because they want to be involved and importantly TO BE A PART of the most exciting football league in the world.

They are NOT here to make money !!!

It’s like some of your mates who love horse racing clubbing together to buy a racehorse.
That racehorse will cost quite a bit to keep it stabled, fed and trained etc - and it might never win a race - but the interest in the race is increased massively because they have their own horse in the race.

It would be nice in the next 3 months if they actually stated what they'd bought the club for.

To date we've had a 30 minute presser where we were told they wouldn't do anything crazy. Then we went and appointed Morais.... ;-)

There's an ongoing thread covering exactly the same topic Nudge that you have contributed to . I think I'll start one with the heading ' Who do people want as the new manager' .

Only they will know the reasons. Time will show us if they are going to invest any cash or just run the club as a business.

Wow, didn't know you knew the owners that well to have their ear. Maybe you can ask them what their intentions are and pass it on to us on the BBS.

I don't think they are here to directly make a profit through the club alone. I personally think Barnsley Football Club are a small part of their bigger plan, which I think is to build a global network of football clubs(obviously they have Nice, and I saw a report on them trying to take over another club, which I want to say was in Spain, but may be wrong) which compliment each other, which in turn could turn into a steady, moderate income for the shareholders.

I don't think anyone would be able to make a substantial profit, year on year from B.F.C, just because the income streams aren't there to sustain it. Obviously, should the club reach the promised land of the Premier League, then the T.V. money alone would could be attractive, but to stay there(making the TV income a regular thing) would take a massive chunk of that money away in player wages/fees.

But what is that saying? To become a millionaire from owning a football club is easy. You just have to start of as a Billionaire...

Sorry nudge but of course they're here to make money. What other reason? If they just wanted to play with a football club....they already had one...Nice.
If they wanted to play Football Manager they could have afforded to buy a much bigger club than us.
As long as their interests in making some cash from us in the Premier League goes hand in hand with the wellbeing of the club then I'm fine with that.

Homes Under The Hammer. Buy cheap, do it up, move on to something bigger and better. Just hope I'm wrong but don't discount the theory just yet!

We will have to wait and see what the summer holds. So far their legacy is selling a player to a then relegation rival, hiring the bag carrier of Mourhinho, a rise in season pass prices and a relegation. We've not heard from anybody that matters since sunday. We have heard from the monkey, but not the organ grinders. We don't know how they feel about going down or what they plan to do about it.

I'm not sure what the owner's intentions are to be honest, I feel like Nudger is sitting on the fence and can't make his mind up. It's just all these mixed signals.

Could you start another thread to be extra sure so i'm not in any doubt?

Venture Capitalists are well known for their altruism...of course they are here to make a profit as above as part of a multi national strategy.

Exactly that. Was any of them at Derby or even the beam back ...doubt it.

The only reason I can see to buy is for the academy, one of the most successful in recent years, either to produce players for Nice or to sell them on for profit.

I think Chinese soft power also plays a big part.

The value of soft power cannot be measured in money. Also, huge cross-selling potential for tourism from China, also, in the end, over the tenure of PC's reign - did he make money from it?

Of course they’re here to make money. If you think that the consortium has purchased the club for any other reason then you’re having a shocker.

I dont have any axe to grind against the new owners. If they only reinvest transfer funds it will be an improvement. If they spend some of their own money we should be happy. Expecting them to spend big to get back to the championship seems unrealistic. I think your horse racing analogy is a good one. Put some money in see how it goes.

    That’s the point isn’t it ???
Did Patrick Cryne ever make a profit from the club ???
    No he didn’t.
Other than a handful of clubs in England - does any club in England make a profit ???
So if you were a business man would you invest in a football club to make money?
    Lol.
But if you were worth £££ Billions and loved the English football league - then Barnsley is a great opportunity to get involved - to be a part of the football league.

So IMO don’t expect millions upon millions being spent - but then again expect some surprises.
