I thought I'd join in this game of picking a manager. What about Craig Bellemy. He's still quite young (38),he's got all his coaching badges,he was interviewed by the Welsh Fa for the International job,he was interviewed and offered the Oxford job only for him to refuse in the end.As a player he was somewhat fiery and he played with his heart on his sleeve.I'm sure he would get the respect of his players.People like Craig have got to start somewhere and with an experienced head at his side he fills a lot of the criteria we should be looking for. No abuse it's only a game.
Don't care how good he is as a manager, I hate the bloke. Thanks but no thanks, would rather go for anyone other than him.
One of the main criteria has to be a comprehensive knowledge of the teams and players within League 1.. Far far less info out there with less media coverage than the championship, that's why we need someone already doing a good job in league one or has attained promotion from there within the last few years... No good appointing another Morais who would be starting from scratch.. Judging by the number of players seemingly fading late into games - Moore for one, we also need to be looking at someone who places a strong focus on the fitness / stamina element of the game. So I would rule out the likes of Bellamy for the first reason.. If we were in the champ still, I think the search could be broader, I just think that league knowledge is key.
First time managers will always need a older head to tap in to.Bellamy has played under a lot of good managers and will have picked up loads. At the moment he's coaching at Cardiff and who better to learn from than Colin (not that I like him) a man who's seen it done it and bought the t-shirt.Traditionally Barnsley have done really well with young first time managers like Clarke,Hunter,Wilson Hecky etc.Instead of employing the usual merry go round manager whats wrong with a fresh dynamic sort who would demand nothing less than success.I think the media would also follow his achievements ,good PR for the club.
If it hadn't been for Allan Clarke you may possibly still be watching fourth division football on a regular basis.
Allan Clarke arrived 40 years ago next month after a stellar playing career which included 19 full England caps and literally turned this club upside down. He was an incredible signing, both as player and manager. You’re not being serious surely, saying that you have never heard of him. Really?
Opinions. I think he comes across terribly on sky and wouldn't let him charge a battery nevermind be in charge of a dressing room. It's a no from me. Got to be Big Mick, Big Daz, Lincoln Boys.
Big mick ? If he wasn’t from “ tarn” nobody would want him , his football is awful . The Lincoln boys ? Pair of arrogant teachers that probably think they’re far better than Barnsley F.C. wouldn’t want em anywhere near my club . Big Dave ? Ahhhh now you’re talking a real football man and doubt anyone in the dressing room would take the piss out of him . UTR
Craig Bellendamy. Not at Barnsley, thanks. I wouldn't give my season ticket back - that's for the axis of evil constituting Morgan, Blackwell, or Gary Neville only - but I'd be deeply miffed.
No I haven’t, but seen as he arrived 40 years ago next month that could be why. I was only born in 1994 so he arrived a long time before I was even born
