You really don't know what your talking about and obviously don't watch games zero football knowledge
I've only just got around to reading this thread, and while I can see why the OP's feeling a bit miffed, I'm not sure there is much more the new owners could have done to get us out of the mire, except maybe appointing a better manager/head coach(although hindsight is a wonderful thing). With respect to the OP's opinion that they could have gone out and got a number of solid, experienced Championship players for circa £12k per week, well thats just over simplifying the matter. I've said this on here recently, but having socialised with a good number of Championship and L1 players over the last few years, who many are exactly the sort of players I would say would have kept us up last season(and I believe supporters like the OP would be over the moon with), I can say with some certainly that they wouldn't have even given us a second thought at even double that £12k. We simply have NOT got a good name at the minute amongst many in the footballing world. Once players have been here, the majority always feel a connection to the club, but normally it would take a hell of a lot more than many players are worth to actually get them to sit down and negotiate. Maybe thats one of the reasons we have been looking at the over seas market(as well as being much, much cheaper....)
Great post that mate, especially about players not wanting to come here. We don't want to become a club that chucks money at mercenaries. Sooner build slowly and become a bigger, better club with better recourses over time. We need to give it chance to work, not just 6 months and then talk about distrust. That's just a total overreaction. Concern and distrust are two totally different things.
I remember you saying that before. But the thing is in this world people do not like to admit they are in it for the money. A player would choose Burton over Sunderland in an instant for an extra 5k a week and who could blame them? Anyone can say they didn't choose Barnsley for various reasons after they've seen they are going to get a lot more money elsewhere. In any job a human being strives to earn more and it is as simple as that.
They maybe wouldn't tell a journalist, or random fan on the street they were in it for the money, as that would be tantamount to professional suicide(which is why I won't ever divulge any of their names on here). But they have always been honest with me that they play football to put shelter over their families heads and food on the table, and that money is probably the most important thing to them when chasing their next career move. Thing is, they are not as short sighted as many believe, as they know that if they chose the wrong club(i.e. us) at the wrong time(now!), then it can affect their earning potential for the rest of their career(a player can get a rep as a yoyo player, that bounces between levels, which I know is affecting one player I know and it's making it hard to get a decent club higher up the pecking order).
Wasn't it Lindsay that made the brilliant challenge on the Brentford player to stop him going through on goal?
Yes and I clearly remember saying at the time 'blimey, that's the first good thing he's done all season!'
You mean someone has to sit and listen to your belly aching and slagging your own players off for 90 minutes? . . . . Do you sit with Hemsworth Tyke per chance?
I encourage the players and get behind the team as much as I can. Like any normal football fan I do even more cheering & singing when things are going well and I don't hide my frustrations when things aren't going well. Yes I've sang 'you're not fit to wear the shirt' 5-1 down at Crawley or the day Brek Shea did you know what and told em all to f**k off at Altrincham, but I have also greeted the lads like heroes on countless occasions like the other week against Brentford or when we battered Hull & Leicester in the Flitcroft era. What I'm trying to say is I simply act accordingly.
Brek Shea didn't play at Altrincham, wasn't even at the club. "Not hiding your frustrations" is fine when the team have actually had a game, but 2 weeks after the season has finished, starting a thread with "I don't trust the new owners" out of absolutely nothing is totally different and a bit bizarre.
I wasn't at Altrincham. I have, however, been at countless Reds games where we've been utterly pathetic. I don't think I've ever told the team to f**k off though. Maybe if I thought that collectively they weren't trying and deliberately so. That was broadly the same group of players that ripped the league up after that game. Do you think they weren't trying or good enough then too? It seems to me you have no ability to deal with watching sport as you're incapable of accepting that your team can't win every week. I'd try a new hobby if I were you.
You can't just smash the wage structure like that though, without causing major umbrage amongst the existing players there who are on much smaller contracts. I'm sure that we will start to be more flexible in the coming seasons, but it's not something that can be done overnight. Next season we aren't going to be needing to offer astronomical wages anyway. I suspect it's likely to start once we get back up, by renegotiating the deals of the players we wish to keep in a timely fashion (unlike in 2016), and offering new recruits at second tier level something close to their market value.
