Loada ******** , Barnsley F.C. is an attractive job for a manager/coach , ambition is all well and good but if the money’s right they’ll come no matter what the league is . Alexander just gone to non league ( for the money) Mellon left shrews for tranmere , non league ( money) . Money comes before status in modern football !
Hopefully all those that thought our new billionaire owners would be splashing the cash etc are starting to get the message now.
Out to 7/4 for the Bradford job too. Mark Warburton second favourite, who I would love for us to go for and would be a steal for Bradford. If we appoint him, even more questions would be asked of the owners.
What questions would you ask them? Perhaps McCann is the best of those candidates they’ve interviewed. Having now learnt from the mistakes of appointing it based on name, or reputation, or owners choice. Perhaps James Cryne and GG have had a chance to properly scrutinise the candidates. Questions should be asked of the owners if they don’t back the new manager, whoever that may be. Who would you appoint? Assuming they would actually come to Barnsley. Because, you know, the other party has to actually apply for the job. Or at least want it. Mark Warburton? Does he want the job?
If Mark Warburton is second favourite for Bradford, so should be in reach for us. Paul Hurst or even Paul Warne. Gary Bowyer who's experience of doing well in front of a morgue home atmosphere. McCann was on course to give Peterborough one of their worse seasons probably this century.
Was he? He had them just outside the playoffs. I wouldn’t mind Hurst or Bowyer. You could try something radical and get behind the new fella. Or moan and cry. Either one, Up to you. I know which one id rather do. Reckon McCann will take us straight back up. And will give us decent football to watch.
They were six off the play offs and seven without a win. They are used to championship and play off challengers in recent seasons. I can see why they got rid. Can't have sentiment in football, so they sacked a club legend, like we should have with Hecky. It's hard to understand what he did there that makes him ideal for us.
Like I said, it’s your choice and footballs all about opinion. But judging him without seeing much of what his football is about, and given the resources he had to spend to build a team, let alone a squad, is, in my limited opinion, a bit harsh. I would take him over most of the merry go round older managers. But there are lots of young coaches around. Let’s hope we have taken our time to ensure we pick the best fit for our club.

No its certain people consistently winging on numerous threads/tweets about the same thing because they’re not getting what they want, everyone has different opinions but it gets a bit tedious when all you read is that same persons opinion constantly
Have you considered starting a thread yourself then if you find it tedious only reading the same people's opinion constantly? Since signing up to the BBS you've averaged one thread every 8 months.
Because if I don’t have anything useful or new to contribute I’m not gonna post just for the sake of it
Bookies odds are the least reliable guide to managerial appointments. Several different candidates will be favourite over the course of the selection process, some of which will go odds-on (suggesting they are nailed on to get the job). When it all comes out in the wash, it will transpire that some, if not all, of these candidates were never under consideration.
You can't lump those 4 together tho.. you may find that 3 above have been fairly successful in their jobs and still employed Where Grant McCann was not and was sacked. And guess which one is on our wish list.. I'll have no faith in anyone that makes any kind of decision at Qakwell after Jose.... and if the job goes to Grant McCann..
