His hip injury and misdiagnosis did for him with us.

Shame as he’s starting to show the form he had when he was first with us on loan. Hope he does well in the championship

Towards the end of the season I think he was fully fit but think Hecky didn't want play him so it suited him to continue with the injury excuse. Similar to Gus. So Ryan decided to move on.
You have to question some of the players Barnsley has released in recent seasons Such as George Williams, Ryan Williams, Robbie Williams and this season Joe Williams went early. If I was young Ben Williams I would be very concerned because I can see a pattern!

I always liked Ryan Williams, thought he was a good option off the bench.

Played loads this season in a less intense league. Be interesting if back in championship he goes back to breaking down regularly. If they get a full season out of him at that level, I will wonder what we were doing wrong with him.

Was a decent player, but as others have said, injury prone. I don't think he'd be a priority signing for us at the minute.
We need a holding midfielder first & foremost & a new keeper & possibly a striker, if Victor or Jacob are not ready for a step up to L1 level.

I did. I really enjoyed the way he played, he was exactly the type of player I always hated marking.

I also did...and made remarks about his abilities.....not everyone sees the same things.

I thought he was decent in league one just far too injury prone didn't work out with us. Not sure he is championship standard.

We signed him when he was injured , and released him once fit , I would have liked him to get another season to prove himself . But history now

I thought that he was excellent when he came on - different class and definitely added to the Rotherham goal threat. Only a great Henderson save denied him the winner. Why was he on the bench, though? Still struggling with injury?

Apparently he played 46 times for Rotherham but given his 17 appearances for us, largely due to injury problems, you can't blame the club for letting him leave.

As already mentioned, he might not be able to keep as fit and injury free once back in the a championship. If the league one games I've seen are anything to go by, it'll be a massive step up in quality.

It wasn't working for him here for one reason or another, sometimes a player needs a move and I'm glad he's done well at Rotherham. That doesn't mean it was a bad decision to let him go though.

We made a judgement that he either wasn’t good enough or able to play regularly enough to be worth keeping on in the championship. We’ll find out next season whether that was the right call or not
