I don’t think so. If the club think it’s the manager to blame they aren’t going out & signing 7 players in January, instead they’d sack the manager & get someone in who they thought could do better with the existing squad
He has won 10 league games all season. If we targeted another manager with that record there would be uproar.
Something had to change at the time it was starting to divide the fans. Yeah the club backed him for another window but I saw no signs that he could turn it around. I personally would of gave him abit longer had he not gone but results had to start picking up. People say he would of used moore and gone 442 as that was his preferred formation. I'm not sure our center mid was strong enough to play 442 and it' a formation he hardly used since Conor went and has used it on only a few occasions at Leeds.
Johnson massivey under achieved in the 1st half of the season pissing about with the 451 and should and probley would have been sacked if he didn't have a 3 year deal. Still looking at the squad he had assembled it was way too good for league one.
I’d say the Wilson signings alongside Mawson and Roberts made us a great team that Johnson cocked about with and you are right I think we would and should have sacked him if it wasn’t for the length of his contract.
Yeah they both oversaw some good signings. Mawson, Roberts, Watkins, aidy white was good for us too pity he was so injury prone were lee jays best along with some quality loans.
Headline in my paper to-day. HECKS NECK IS ON THE BLOCK. "Paul Heckingbottom is on the verge of being sacked by Leeds United after less than four months at Leeds. Owner Andrea Radrizzani is considering wielding the axe because he is not sure if Heckingbottom is the right coach to lead Leeds next season. Heckingbottom won four of sixteen games after replacing Thomas Christiansen in February. Heckingbottom age 40 met with the Leeds board before heading off on his holiday and is waiting to see if he's backed or sacked. It is believed that Claudio Ranieri and Michael Laudrup are being linked as Heckingbottom's successor." Ah well, he made his bed and now he has to lie on it. He's probably got enough money to ensure a comfortable life in the future, but will be disappointed as to how it's panned out if he gets the tin tack at Leeds.
Why is he 10/1 with Skybet to be our next manager? Come on then own up who has been throwing money away to do this haha
It's a no from me. All good things run their course, it's an era that gave a glorious high point and ended in decline. Not all of it at the managers feet. That's football. But what's gone has gone. Personally have no axe to grind with Hecky, I think we underestimate his influence on the run he took the side on after Johnson left. 7 wins on the spin prior to him taking over brings its own pressure, he kept things going brilliantly, and up to Jan 17 had the team competing in the Championship. Clearly the overall squad this season wasn't good enough, I honestly couldn't say if keeping Hecky or replacing him with someone other than Morais would have kept us up. Irrespective of the reasons, once you start losing high quality and replacing it with lower quality, things generally go one way. Similar events, perhaps for different reasons, did for Hunter and Bassett too.
