Both Wednesday and Derby are bigger clubs than us not to mention the massive increase in wages. The stupid hypocrisy of football fans is breathtaking criticising footballers for what they themselves would do in a heartbeat.

Scunthorpe midtable League 1 side to Barnsley midtable League 1 side. Barnsley 8th in the championship to Wednesday 6th in the Championship. Wednesday side that just got playoffs to Derby a side around top 10. From Derby on loan to Stoke another club who will probably be in the championship top 10.

Putting my loyalties aside I'd have stayed at Scunthorpe. I'd have stayed at Barnsley and so forth.

The guys earning per week and was earning per month what most do in a year but he still just moves to get that extra few grand. Greedy, greedy, greedy.

And his attitude while playing for us was disgusting how he treated that young academy lad at Guiesley I was always sort of willing him to fail.

Seriously?! You think he got just a few extra grand when he left us for Wednesday? I bet he at least doubled his wages. Tot that up at the end of his career and it makes a huge difference to the financial security if him and his family.

I love this concept that people expect players, or anyone else in any other job for that matter, faced with an offer to massively increase their salary, to say "nah, I already earn more than enough, I don't want any more".

I’d discuss it with you but if you bark with dogs you end up howling. As if any player would stay at Scunthorpe or Barnsley if they got a better offer. Why should they? There is zero loyalty in football. The first sign your legs are gone and you are off out the door. I used to be mates with a couple of Reds players. One turned up for training one morning one morning after years of loyalty and was told you’re signing for Charlton. He said I don’t want to I want to stay here we said well don’t turn up for training tomorrow so it’s up to you.

Didn't David Hirst turn up one morning for training and get called into Clarkie's office to be told not to get changed for training because he needs to get back in his car and drive to Hillsborough because we had just sold him to Wednesday. It was the first he knew about it.

Because if it wasn't for Barnsley he'd still be a League 1 player & if it wasn't for Scunny he'd have still been a League 2 player? Because none of his moves progressed his career at all at the time? Many many reasons

Scunthorpe are in L1 he is probably going to end up playing for a Top 10 championship side on 20x the wage he earned at Scunny.

Yes I heard that about Hirsty. Also look how we treated big Eric after all his loyalty.

due to Barnsley and Scunthorpe progressing his career after he was on the scrap heap as a Wolves reject.

And how to repay that, those who pay your wages for 2 & a half years, those who sang your name, those little kids who got your name on their shirt? wheel around Oakwell in a Wednesday shirt goading the whole stadium.

The man is a vile creature.

Nah he just did what you would do stop being a hypocrite. A jobs a job. If someone offered any of us a 200/300 percent pay rise for doing the same job in the same area we would be off in a shot.
