Yes I’d have him back . If he’d been with another team and not usand achieved what he did and went to Leeds it would be seen as a good appointment
I think his next job is massive for him. He left us with a totally unbalanced squad and heading for relegation then managed to drop Leeds a few places in the league when they we're after a play off push. Wherever he goes next he needs to play the positive football that got him the plaudits in the first place and not let his arse fall out when he looses a few games.
I didn't want him to leave when he did, but having decided to go (and go there), I don't think there's any way he could come back.
1. I don't think he would want to come back, I reckon he will go to Bradford 2. I don't think the board will want him back 3. He shat on his own doorstep, he's in the past the club needs to look forward not backwards.
No I genuinely think there's far too many managers out there with better track records and experience. He left us and got sacked as far as I'm concerned we forget about him and move on. We have a pretty good squad on paper but need a minimum of 5 or so additions so let's bring someone in with a track record of building squads. Serious Question - How gooder manager is Hecky? He's the manager that won twice at Wembley. The side he inherited was far too good for league one and had momentum when he took over so it doesn't take a genius to keep things the same as he did 4-4-2 attacking football. I did feel sorry for him that his whole side got sold under him and the board gave him a pittance to try and assemble a new side we were always going to struggle last season. If he hadn't gone to Leeds surely his position would have been under scrutiny with the new owners with 2 wins in 25. Reverting back to my question? He's never built a successful side but on the flip side he has experience in gaining promotion from league one. He'll be in league one next season can't see too many queuing up for a manager who's won a handful of games out of his last 50 championship games. I genuinely think it's too early in his managerial career to actually know if he's any good or not or if he was just lucky inheriting a very strong league one side and then unlucky the majority of the side got sold in the next 12 months. Fresh start, new manager, get rid of the deadwood, new signings, build the core of the side, get the fans up off the seats
Wouldn't have him back for anything but do you still not know how the club's recruitment process works/ed.
I can’t believe that supporters DON’T want him back. Best football I’ve seen at the WELL in 15 years - but circumstances were totally against him. People have very very short memories. Give him a level playing field and he’d be phenomenal. Id have Hecky back before any of the lower league managers that have been mentioned on here in the last few weeks. But I can’t see him coming back because we still don’t know what happened or indeed if anything happened that caused him to leave Barnsley in the first place. Truth might come out now he’s left Leeds.
Agree on the good football up until January last year Nudge but come on, 11 wins from 60 games between both clubs as manager since the beginning of February 2017 and you can’t believe people don’t want him back...
I don’t want him back at this stage of his career his record in the last season and a half is poor, there are reasons for that but he needs to go and prove he is a good manager in the lower leagues again. (But somewhere without the baggage he would have if he came back here). It’s a bit too soon for the fans who were calling for him to be sacked then accuse him of crimes against humanity for leaving before he was pushed getting the club 500K and himself a good payoff into the bargain. I really don’t understand why there is so much hatred for him amongst a section of our fans. It’s even worse than was for Wilson who left us in much less understandable circumstances
I think the big difference between the two that fans have struggled to stomach was PH talking about how it was his club etc and hating Leeds as a kid etc. etc. then within a short time abruptly leaving. I think the timing of the new contract also annoyed people. I also think however that there is an awful lot more to it than our club has made out and Hecky hinted at this with his little swipe. I'm not particularly chuffed with how he dealt with it all but I don't hate him. I agree with many that having him back immediately would upset a large amount of fans.
For once I agree with you Titus. I don’t hate PH and I understand people going for a bigger payday but he handled it terribly. Obviously none of us know what happened behind closed doors but his abysmal record really does make the eyes water. I stand by my opinion that he inherited Danny Wilson’s and Lee Johnson’s (or even Patrick’s) signees and rode that wave of success making him appear better than he actually is so for me it’s more the fact that we stood by him as we headed towards the bottom of the table losing game after game but carried on singing his name nonetheless and then leaves us in the poo a few days after rewarding his horrendous record since Jan 2017 with a new contract. Bringing him back would cause such a divide between fans that would result in a ridiculous amount of punch ups between ourselves on match days so it’s best he be left in the past as we head towards the future.
