Agree totally , great beaches & the Queens Park area is great for kids. Love Mablethorpe & Sutton , both traditional resorts which are the same as they were decades ago & both very pocket friendly , long flat promenade , great place

I didn't know that. It's been quite a few years since I was there.

I'm actually going to Yarmouth next week for 4 nights, well 2 in Yarmouth, 2 in Cromer.... and I can't lie... i'm dreading it. I've been doing my usual research on tripadvisor and really struggling for a restaurant that does something other than chips and might even be edible in the process.

It's a nostalgia trip taking my mum, so it's for her really.... still, I'm sure it will be interesting to see what its like around 30 years from my last visit as a kid.

In terms of places, I'd recommend Lyme Regis, Dartmouth and just hop around some of the places down in Cornwall and Devon. Marazion for St Michaels Mount, Kynance Cove, one of the most stunning places in this country, and if its nice and the tides out, Sennen Cove. Fowey and Brixham and nice little coastal villages too that have developed more and got a nice buzz to them without being huge and faceless.

Six months early for the bah humbug.

We've just got back from a fortnight in Devon and Cornwall. Falmouth is dead nice. We did Dartmouth, Teignmouth and Dawlish on the way back. It might be a bit far for a few days though. It's a 5 to 6 hour drive to Devon but I can't see you doing anywhere on the south coast in under 4 hours unless you break a few world records.

Nowt to do with humbug trying to save blokes lug oils with screaming kids on a six hour drive when in reality could do what he needs nearer home. Might as well go centre parcs in Sherwood forest and let kids play about in pools all day

You thought about south west - lived in Barnstaple for several years. Great beaches - Croyde etc. Suppose it depends on how long you want to spend in the car. Nevertheless worth it!

Stick to the north. Whitby or somewhere in northumberland.

Use Yarmouth as a base, but visit the north Norfolk coast - Well Next The Sea, Holkham beach, Cley (pronounced Cleye), Happisborough etc. Hire a boat on the Broads for a day (from Potter Heigham or even just south of Norwich etc) and visit Norwich for a day, a lovely city. Dunt have KFC in Yarmouth though, it'll give you the 5hits (well it did us).
