The factors are a decent win ratio at a level higher than league 1 and an interview process carried out by people that know much more than any of us. Still, he's foreign, so he's starting on the back foot with a large section of people.

One job, got sacked after less than a season and has been out of work nearly 18 months.

On paper looks a better prospect than Morais but to say you can’t possibly have an opinion pre employment is ludicrous.

The clubs new structure currently has a 100% failure rate with managers.

As soon as you are presented with some “critical thinking” on any subject you mince off.

Probably shows the level of your own critical thinking lad.

Wow! I thought Morais was a disaster and was extremely dubious when he was appointed. But a sample size of one!!! That's like interviewing the first person out of the polling booth on election day and predicting a landslide for the Green Party on the strength of it.

It is the only evidence we have and I haven’t said it’s a foregone conclusion, just there are two sides to the tale despite the fact I disagree with how the OP puts it.

-Got the sack when a new regime wanted to bring in his own man by all accounts, with a decent win ratio, at a higher level than will be required in league 1.
-I didn't say you can't have an opinion pre-employment, I said to claim anyone who subsequently changes their views based on his performance in the coming months isn't a charlatan as you've implied
-I also don't think you and a few others have an opinion, I think you've just got an axe to grind ad nauseum so consider what you're saying fairly irrelevant
-A '100% failure' is pathetic point scoring and hardly needs responding to
-The unrealistic expectations on the club by you and a few others make your opinions gruelingly uninteresting, we have the infrastructure of a top half league 1 club, we're not going to get Alex Ferguson, but we might well attract a younger, promising manager starting out to grow with the club. I'm aware you'll struggle to understand that.
-He hasn't even been appointed yet and still people like yourself are having huge digs, at both him and the club.
-I have no problem responding to your points, but they're tedious and I'd rather save my time.

    Happy?

I know the new traffic lights at Cundy Cross haven’t gone well and Stairfoot roundabout can be a nightmare but if you come into tarn via Huddersfield Road it’s not that bad

The whole point surrounded you trying to shut down any negativity pre employment.

Did their league position not improve after he was sacked?

Why has he not been in another position since?

The axe to grind is what happens on the pitch.

Maybe the idea is to try and sign someone who isn't aware of our historic so that they start fresh and enthusiastic rather than just another managerial job a la Grayson, among others

I've been watching us for not quite twenty years and in that time the above has always been how we've operated. We must have averaged a manager a season since 2000. Most were 3rd rate and most of the players we've signed since then have been 3rd rate. Davey had a good team and so did Johnson and Heckingbottom till 18 months ago. Pool all the players we've had since 2002 and you'd get one decent eleven and one or two managers who'd still manage to play players out of position.

Really? Hardly foresight or expert forecasting is it? Anyone can claim a pessimistic opinion as foresight if it doesn’t work out and likewise with an optimistic opinion if it does work out. I’m sure many who wait to give an opinion until after a a certain amount of games will call it a stupid appointment if it does turn out bad. Get a grip Jeez.

Bleeding hell Spider - that’s a really disparaging post.
We haven’t signed 3rd rate players.
If we had then they wouldn’t have attracted so much attention for them to sign for other clubs.

How have we exhausted the British market for young players ???
There are plenty of young hungry players that would jump at joining Barnsley.
And of course there’s even more on the continent and around the rest of the world.

So the new owners are just getting started.
People that amass such large amounts of money are not thick - these directors are highly intelligent people.
Give them time to get the wheels moving.
The summer of 2020 will be a good time to take stock of the impact of the new owners - but definitely not in the summer of 2018.

Appointing Managers has always been a lottery - especially at our level. I posted a few days ago that all the promotion campaigns we have been successful in have ALL! been with inexperienced managers Clarke Hunter Wilson Ritchie and Heckingbottom.
some of the managers that on paper should have been excellent - Paul Hart and Nigel Spackmen for example were complete failures.
No matter who we appoint its a gamble - even if we went for and got Zidane people would be saying he had no experience at this level. We could go for Grayson but personally I would rather we didnt. I will give whoever we appoint a chance and judge over time when we see how he performs.

I hated the direction the club was taking under the previous regime.

I am both a heretic and a vile human being though.

Is that an accurate forecast or pure pessimism though?

I was never on board with the previous strategy. It's the reason we've ended up back in League One.
