Just hope he doesn't have to work under the worst-case scenario Brexit (or best case in the eyes of some people!) I ended up with on Football Manager, could literally only get work permits for players who were international superstars, totally ruined my policy of signing young Eastern Europeans, haven't played it since.

Why do you say he is a cheap option ? I would have thought bringing in a foreign coach & probably his staff is far from cheap especially when you consider that as well as his contract & his staffs contracts there will be high cost in relocation packages etc etc

My brother and I both refer to each other as "Lad".

My Dad has always called us "Lad", mostly as he usually calls us the wrong name, if he tries to address us with our names "mark" & "martin".
They could have thought that through more...

Eyup pal - I voted leave to get out of the ever increasing political union with the organisation that is the EU. Don’t treat an entire section of the population as one homogenous group - that’s what ‘we’ are accused of and it’s false. I’ve as much affinity for the Brexit ultras as I have with a Sheff Wed supporter.

I also have no problem with a person of whatever nationality etc managing my football club and working in the UK in whatever capacity.

Some of the weirdest criticism of our foreign owners has come from certain advocates of remain.

I'd agree that this isn't a cheap option I bet McCann Ainsworth etc would have been similar costs. I hope / think he has been identified as a coach with potential and being from the German league that it won't take that much adapting to league 1. I'm so pleased we have got someone now and I'll look forward to the world cup, then seeing who we sign, friendlies then our promotion charge. You reds.

This. I agreed with some of what the OP posted but the ridiculous correlation with Brexit spoilt a reasonable point. It was completely unnecessary and quite patronising.

Why do ypu see his nationality as a reason for peoples concerns? I personally like the idea of stendel, but I can understand people's concerns considering less than a season experience in a league completely different to ours. Bringing brexit into it is ridiculous

Yes I agree with what you say & I read with interest that before his brief step up to management that he had actually been coaching for ten years , so he might be a lot more experience than a lot of people first thought

The only correlation is.... I’m tired of people deciding what’s going to happen before it does.

Remainers tell me that my house is going to fall down, the pound will collapse, and I won’t be able to buy bananas after brexit. If they got behind it, it may even work in our favour.

People tell me the new “not yet confirmed” manager will be crap because he is untested. (I don’t believe it’s because he is German). Let’s get behind him and maybe it will work...

    Think Wagner at Huddersfield?

My first post so feel free to comment.

It's just blind faith , there seems to be no logic behind the appointment , what does he know about English league 1? probably chuff all . It's just too leftfield and weird for me . Good luck to him and obviously I hope hes' successful but it seems an odd fit . I think we've lost our identity and are just a page in a rich man's portfolio that he can rip out at any time .

Very weird summation that if remainers got behind it then it would work.

Literally the most bizarre argument going. Brexit is fine as long as you accept you will economically be worse off for the short to medium term at least.

Not that I get why Brexit has anything to do with the manager but it seems to relate to every decision right now.

    Patronising to who?

I probably didn’t need to mention it no, fair enough, though I don’t believe the point I made is inaccurate.

Minority of people maybe - hopefully even, but still there.

Whatever anyone’s reason for disliking the appointment (has it even been confirmed yet?), I think some of the threats of withdrawal of support are ridiculous. Maybe I should have left it at that. I made no comment on the tommy Robinson threads for a reason, I should have kept to the same logic here.

In a worst case Brexit scenario, he could be forced out of the job in March by the government...

I agree with you on the football points. The threat to withdraw support is just daft and the criticism he is getting is ridiculous. I will extend my warmest of welcomes to him and support him 100% because that is the least we can do as supporters.

Yes, weird... no one knows what will happen. However the harbingers of doom would be quite happy for it to fail. Because then they were right. So they peddle out the constant barrage of nonsense. It’s not productive, not helpful and causing the country more problems than anything else. Brexit is happening, the country voted, get over it and get on with it.

Same with the manager appointment. Except we didn’t have a say in that... People whinging about the new manager. Get over it, it’s happening! I told you so!

Maybe people would prefer not to have a huge recession rather than just think about being right. Be the most costly I told you so of all time.

Why is there going to be a recession? The only issues so far are because of nervous companies believing tripe like that and moving.

Maybe they should think about a recession and stop trying to force one with tales of woe.

Unfortunately the country is on it’s backside and the shock of leaving the customs union would be enough to sort that question.
