Why does this forum allow people to make such remarks. Under the equality act 2010 and its protected characteristics this behaviour is simply disgusting. If the administrative people of this website allow such comments to exist then they are condoning such comments by taking no action which makes them just as bad as the perpetrator.
Depends what comment, I’ve not read much on here tonight. Folk go overboard these days, I was reading something on a rival board and a poster called a manager a Jock, a poster responded with that’s borderline racist. World’s ******.
I agree that racist remarks should be reported and repeat offenders banned. . But the thing we all should remember is that the moderators and admins of this board do so as volunteers, so without us clicking 'report' they are not necessarily going to see it and will only be able to act on it when they can.
Difficult to police when admins also post race related comments. http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/the-chase.268842/ You can call someone ‘Thick’, but add a nationality before it and it becomes racist comment. That’s not me being PC, the missus actually got a warning at work a few years back for calling someone a ‘fecking bitch’ but with Scottish before. That triggered a race complaint to HR.
Excuse me ! For clarity the board does not allow or condone racist comments and if such comments are either spotted by Site Admin or reported to us they will be removed. But as pointed out by others in this thread we are volunteers with lives and jobs outside this message board and dont read every post. Use the report button. As a secondary point there is a blurred line between racism and political correctness see the post by W1zz above we arent all legal experts about the finer points of what is an isnt permissable
I'm one of the PC brigade & I can't see anything to be offended by in the link Wizz posts, unless the women was likely to read this board. Some of the responses are quite humorous.
A racial group is “a group of persons defined by reference to race, colour, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origin” So calling someone “A thick Scottish women” can be considered a racially aggravated offence under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
Is "A thick woman" also an offence in some form of sexist discrimination? I do struggle with some of this I remember a case not too long ago of someone taking umbridge over the use of the term "lame duck" on the grounds it was offensive to those who had difficulty walking - its a minefield
I think so - as long as you dont use the word English in your chant, Lets face it I would be offended if you did that. W1zz seems to be more of an expert than me on this though
Refering to Leeds fans as English would highly offended fans of a massive club of champions league history, who obviously have fans in every country around the world.
I just hope that the new owners and potential new manager doesn’t read this message board. Because if they do then they are likely to be very disheartened by it. We should be encouraging these people not attacking them at a time when they are just getting started. Some of the posts on here recently are a DISGRACE to the club.
Best thing to do on this site is stick to football talk, because if you’re opinion differs to the politically correct stance, all the whingeing wining crew will grass you to oblivion.
