And all we have done is let go a promising Austrian, released a club legend who ripped this division apart not so long ago and sold some deadwood. We never make things easy for ourselves do we? New owners same old story only more frustrating. With the sheer amount of players we desperately need to compete next season it's plainly obvious what's going to happen. A We will be left short in key areas or B August Panic Buys. And lets be honest this Pre-Season will be another pointless one. No doubt we'll sign one or more players a few days before the Oxford game and throw them straight in. As per usual it is a sorry affair at the circus.
Apart from the fact that there's a major championship going on, and in the close seasons where there is, transfer business usually gets done once it's over?
I Agree with the OP to some extent. We never seem to do our business early and hit the ground running. Were left mentioning the word 'gel' in ever post till November. Points count the same in August as they do in April.
I am happy for them to take their time with it if it means we get the right players in for the right price. Also happy to see some of the fringe players sold could do with a few more out actually too. I don't think we need many in really providing that we keep hold of the better players we have we will be fine. We could just do with a few wingers, a third option up front and a midfielder or two that can tackle.
Peterborough always do early business, and never go up. No one knows what Knasmullner is like and that club legend had 1 decent game last season.
Might it be wise to let Daniel see the whites of our squads' eyes in preseason training before any dosh is splashed? Transfer funds are in limited supply, despite the owners wealth, due to financial regulations remember.
They've probably made them because they will need some added quality once they sell their star man. They have been approached by as yet an unnamed club for striker Jack Marriott. They are asking for £6 million for him and are presently waiting for a response back. As for us, as previously stated, it's mooted that our first player will probably come in this week. As mentioned yesterday, as far as the young lad Cherrett of Yeovil is concerned, my cousin in Poole is having a word with his Dad today to convince him his lad would be far better off at Oakwell, were the approach to be made of course. He'd get more money at Wolves, but he'd probably get more quality game time with us. Yew Reds.
Stop ******* moaning you absolute **** end go and moan somewhere else I’m sick of reading your negative **** I might not post that often but people like you are ruining this fantastic site
Realistically how many signing do you think we need? I think 3/4 on top of current squad and then replace anyone who leaves. Need a GK, battling midfielder, wide player and maybe a striker who’s quick.
Could we not be waiting until July 1st to announce our signings ? Majority of contracts finish on 30th June.
We don’t need more than 3/4 signings and a few loanees. We missed out on then champions league this season so a squad of 54679544 players is probably not necessary. I don’t disagree with part of the sentiment we always seem to dawdle then spend 3 months gelling.
I think we've 4 poor full backs, a goalkeeper who has lost his way, a midfield thats not fit for purpose and Moore and Bradshaw likely to go. I suspect we'll be more likely to transition the squad over 3 windows rather than one big sweep of the broom. So 4 or 5 signings this window, assess in January and give a big push next season. I hope I'm wrong, but even allowing for the drop in level, I'm not sure we're close to having what the new coach wants to implement in terms of style and intent.
