Oh aye(!) Can you just imagine me walking down Dodworth High Street with a chihuahua at the end of a leash? I've told Laura that she can select the next dog, if we get one. Thankfully, she's not a fan of chihuahuas!
The Police put about 10 of those in a skip near me...apparently the house was being used as a cannabis farm....not that I'm implying any connection.
It's been bugging me how pompous that sounds so if certain parties have chosen to have a go at it then fair enough. The thing about the ignore button is that you can still see the presence of some in the glaring continuity gaps in the thread. There are many other posters who stand up for a sensible view of things better than me and many more who show a restraint in the face of the nonsense that is far more admirable than my biting on a regular basis. I've only got about three people on ignore. The irony is that one is someone whose constant negativity and malicious vendetta against a guy who is no longer able to defend himself I find more distasteful than just about anything else posted on this board. I'd rather ignore though than get wound up by the venom in that particular instance. Right, I'm off to see the zen buddhist.
What people have to accept is the club is moving on. The era of Patrick is sadly over & apart from his son retaining some influence on the board and the ground being held partly by the council everything else is likely to change. The degree of success of the new owners will be able to be gauged in two years time. If we are back in the Championship, with a strong squad, good support & improved match day facilities we will all be happy. If we are struggling in L1, then we'll be able to criticise poor decisions & vote with our feet if we want to. Strendell has been selected as manager. Whether some on here think Grayson, or someone else would have been a better choice it does not matter a flying ****. There was no chance of Big Mick coming by all reports, who was the only experienced name that would have pretty much united everybody. Strendell obviously had contractual reasons for not officially starting till 4 days ago. Whilst I'm sure in reality he's been assessing the squad since his appointment, he has had less than a week thus far. Some keyboard warriors we don't need to name should join the rest of us, get behind the club & see what happens. I'm quite excited about the new season, after one of the most miserable ones on record last term. The squad is way too big, with too many players that are unlikely to fit the new playing style. I don't know who will leave, but I think 7/8 will go, if we get an acceptable offer. That might include losing the likes of Moore & Bradshaw, if there is a better alternative & the money is right. Our better players are going to be more appealing obviously. Some of the deadweight may be harder to shift & may have to be loaned out, or moved on at a loss. It makes sense to be identifying recruits, but better to know who is leaving first, if possible. Pearson for example was decent cover at full back or centre back. We have 3 very good CB's at the moment, so would have been 4th choice in that position. Williams is moving to contention to the first team & is a pacey full back, so was not much of a chance getting a position there. We don't want to have the situation we had last year, where we had too many players vying for one position. Whatever happens I'm going to give it time. The last promotion team didn't gel from day one. We haven't played a bloody friendly yet!
I've never felt the need to use it in ten years but I have been thinking about using the ignore feature for a few weeks now however I've always been put off by the continuity issue you mention. Is it really bad?
Lol, I've just commented on one of your posts. I could bet a thousand quid on who you're arguing with even though I can't see who it is. The ignore works to a certain extent but there are times when you know the individuals involved are going to post and past experience tells you WHAT they're going to post. It's almost as infuriating as actually reading what they say but at least it lessens the impulse to bite back.
The level of debate with the poster I am considering putting in ignore has gone way beyond parody now. The irony is they fail to see just how ridiculous they are coming across despite being consistently told by several members of the BBS. I really enjoy the debate on here, with posters of all political persuasions, it is part of what makes the BBS so good and we have some fantastic and articulate posters on here but debate is being strangled and the poster in question is ruining the place in my opinion.
Agreed. It's why I used the ignore button. You're right about the level of debate. It's impossible to have a reasoned argument with some. My view on politics is different to yours in certain areas but I have no problem discussing the differences with you as I know I'll get a balanced and sensible response. To be honest it's a football forum and, though I accept that there will be political debates on here and I do get involved in them, I wish there were less. There's a couple of posters on either extreme of the political spectrum who turn any debate into something nasty. Thankfully neither of them have much to say about actual football so it doesn't really impact that much.
