1st ever post on here question is- Re England when do you all start getting excited or believe we could win it -Group games ,last 16 , 1/4 final semi or final seems a lot of different opinions on here lots of different age groups but only have possible 2 games left think its time to believe and be positive Maybe just maybe its coming home if not enjoy the ride ⚽️
Depends who wins tonight. Russia win, the rest will be bent, Croatia en we have a chance at least to get to the final.
Welcome! I got excited after Colombia but couldn't bring myself to think we'd make the semis. Now i'm starting to believe
Like Jose Morais rightly said, you have always got to believe. If you really believe you can do something, usually you will. The vagaries of " the luck of the draw" and " you can only beat what's in front of you" have all conspired to put us where we are, re- the Semi Final of the 2018 World Cup. Part of our success is down to the fact that the team has no perceived or self proclaimed " Superstars". They are all down to earth modest lads who have made their way from the lower echelons of the game and have all at some time played under the Manager at Under 23 level. Where they are is by no means a fluke. They are there because a set of circumstances and their own enthusiasm , togetherness and self belief have got them thus far. It's not a matter of what we think, it's more about what they now do collectively going forward. They are literally two games away from glory and a permanent place in England's " Hall of Football Fame". If every man who pulls on that shirt truly believes they can pull it off and collectively gives it all that they've got, believe me, they will do it.
Personally I'd say when we are 2 - 0 up in the final with 3 minutes of added on. Too much historical baggage to think otherwise. Having said that Southgate has been a revelation. Would have been in my top 10 picks for the job but he's got this better than average team playing well by being organised. I hope the flare players can express themselves more in the next game rather than feel they have to grind out a result. But if that's what they have to do to get into the final then fine.
We can believe now. We aren’t up against teams with a massive history of winning tournaments like Germany, Brazil & Italy we’re up against two sides with a similar reputation to ourselves of bottling it in Croatia & Belgium & a side in France who have the demons of losing a final on home soil two years ago.
Once we beat Colombia I thought we had a excellent chance of making a semi. The draw really has opened up for us in a way we couldn't have thought possible. Now in a one off game anything can happen but I think we have a excellent chance of beating Croatia. Should we manage to do that I think we would go into the final 2nd favourite against either Belgium or France.

I’ll start to believe when the ref lifts the whistle to his lips to blow for full time when we’re comfortably leading in the final, until then I know we CAN win it and continue to hope that we WILL win it.
I believe we can win it, although I don’t yet believe we will win it. Not until we’re 3 up against Belgium with 10 minutes to go.
I’ll be in Kota Kinabalu on the island of Borneo for the final. I’ll have been travelling for nigh on 24 hours and I’ll be jet lagged to buggery but if England are playing I’ll stay awake even if it means I’ll be a zombie for the first week of my holiday, certainly the early start on the Monday morning can ballax!
