Do you pay more on the day at the cinema or theatre? It's a genuine question as I haven't been to either for years.

Agree with twenty is plenty.. 25 is the top whack id pay... owt like 28 and above they can **** right off big stile. I work, not every Saturday, but enough to make an ST out of the question.. so this pricing really affects me down to even if I attend or not.
But ill hold my water until I see how the germans a fairing anyway..

I’m sorry but that’s completely wrong! Our ticketing website throws back an error message almost every time a match day ticket is purchased. It does it so often I genuinely consider seeing that as confirmation that it’s booked because it’s the message I get every time and I’ve seen other people post about it too. Anyone who doesn’t use it regularly may double book thinking it didn’t work the first time, panic if they don’t usually like or trust paying for things online, or miss the match they’ve paid for thinking that it didn’t work.

That's how I see it too. "Oh I've got the error. Payment must have gone through then"

So... You're saying it works doubly well? Makes twice the money per purchase!

Never had that myself. View from the seat etc is brilliant, we've had it seasons, other clubs similar to ours are just catching up.

Thought they'd be frozen on early for two years - my mistake then

Just the one. They didn't go up much though, still reasonably priced.

I do absolutely love the view from seat option! I find it astonishing that they haven’t done anything about the error message though as it’s been years and it’s such a serious problem to be telling customers they haven’t been charged when they have. It’s the sort of thing I’d expect to be fixed the same day.

Regardless of what division we are in, we still have a number of fixed costs to meet each season. The ground, electric, gas, maintenance, insurance costs admin costs, business rates, HMRC and VAT to pay.

Whilst we can cut the playing side expenditure, we still, as every club has, a lot to pay out each month.

I’d also add, that ticket prices include VAT. So for a £25 ticket, £4.17 of that goes to HMRC. The club only get just over £20. Then deduct printing costs or Ticketmaster costs - it’s not exactly a massive amount the club receive, is it?!?!

I love this time of year. For 11 months of the year, we all want the club to buy better players, or offer our top performers better contracts to stop them going to Villa or wherever. But then for one month in the summer many of us comment about ticket prices being too high.

    Can't have it both ways.

What about when somebody is complaining that the high cost loses us customers and therefore revenue?

That's a valid point but I think mine is slightly different. Fans of most clubs think their club should "get some money spent". That raises a number of questions: -

Where do fans think this money is supposed to come from?
Why do some fans think that "rich owners" should foot the bill?
Why don't football clubs operate like any other business, which can only spend money they get from customers?

Wouldn't any other business aim to sell all of its stock and see surplus stock sitting around doing nothing as an issue? Most would reduce their price to clear that stock.
For stock read empty seats and you will see my point

I take your point, but am still really struggling to see why this particular group of billionaires bought Barnsley FC? They don’t seem to want to invest much money and certainly won’t be making any...
