For a press conference with Daniel Strendal. He's been here about a month and it would be nice to hear from him.How he finds Barnsley, how he rates the squad,is he expecting anymore incomings or out goings, can he see us getting promotion etc.I'm sure his assistant can help with translation.A good press conference could even help sell a few more season tickets.I'm sure there's a few holding back until they know the clubs plans and developments for the new season.
Best reason to visit Garmisch Partenkirchen in Bavaria is a wonderful cafe overlooking the Zugspitze, serving a fantastic Apfel STRUDEL mit vanille sauce.
Personally , I have no wish to hear from him , because all it will do is to invite the critics to dissect his every word & look for the negatives . I want him to concentrate his time & efforts to the training ground & hopefully the team will do the talking for him on the pitch . I used to listen & read what our last foreign coach had to say & used to cringe with dismay , although I believe that some of the the things he said were translation errors, but my overall conclusion was that he would have been better off saying nothing & like I say , there are some fans who hang on to every word made in these statements & all they do is look for something to have a go at , until he masters the language , he is better off keeping stum.
Typo's aside, its important that he speaks to the fans as soon as possible, I understand the language barrier, but language is how connections are built. Actions on the pitch too, obviously, but verbal and non verbal communication through interviews is an essential part of football nowadays. I'm eager to hear more from our club. Our CEO, our owners and our coach. Our players, and past people connected with it. Its most odd that someone might think there is a negative in conducting an interview and accessing a wider portion of the fan base.
Sadly I wouldn't recognise the faces or voices of either our manager or any of our owners if I bumped into them in the street and had a full blown conversation
How did folk used to get on when managers and coaches used to just manage and coach? How did folk used to get on when football clubs didn't even talk to the fans apart from the odd comment in the local rag? I can't even remember how we coped...
Probably ok as it was equivalent of 2p to squeeze in the turnstiles ;-) Seriously though.... don't you want to hear from our coach? Listen to his ideas and thoughts, his assessment of our players, how he's finding Barnsley, his coaching ethos and more about his roots in Germany, the influences. I've always enjoyed listening to our managers. The world has vastly moved on from a few ghost written words on a shonkily printed bit of paper every once I a while. Surely its natural for us to want to know more about our new head coach and develop a connection with him? Get some rapport established? Its a common occurrence in every club in the country, its hardly asking for a unicorn with a red and white horn to be paraded on the half way line every half time.
If the new owners can arrange for a genuine unicorn with a red and white horn I give my word I will never criticise the club again
Was thinking the same.Surely there must be something in chron this week from him about his hope’s for the new season and chances of adding to the squad or not.Never known a pre season as quiet on and off pitch.Although I’ve got my season ticket as usual i must admit I’m feeling pretty meh about the whole thing at minute.
