Mauricio Pochettino refused to do an interview until he was fluent in English and I don't see it as having done him or Spurs any harm. Maybe our Dan just doesn't want to look daft in front of the fans and press but wants to do himself justice.
He did a press conference the day he was appointed Southampton manager. Struggled with English but did the press conference anyway in both English and Spanish
He can speak English and is improving rapidly. Morais could speak near fluent English. I don’t think that was the problem.
To be fair the seasons starts next week & I am sure the custom & practise of a pre match press conference will take place . Our new manager may need an interpreter but I feel sure all of you that have a thirst to hear from our new leader will duly have it quenched on a weekly basis but I think the guy will have had a lot on his plate , therefore public speaking may initially have been down his list
I can't remember. It's so long ago that I was there, back in my RAF Germany days of the early nineties. It was one of those accidental finds after a long drive south and we just wanted a rest stop somewhere nice before driving a bit more to find some accommodation. We were blown away by all of it - a good table outside with spectacular views. It was the start of a superb week or so staying at an alpine style hotel a few miles away in a village called Grainau. We just called hoping for the best and they had a room. I remember stepping onto the balcony and the Swiss owner said nervously "Is this ok for you?" We were staring open mouthed at the most magnificent mountain I had ever seen in my life. We went up there the following day - a train runs from Garmisch up, and up.....and up, until you reach a cable car station and then go up some more. The journey included going through a tunnel high up in the mountain.
No, I'm not talking about that one up the mountain. This one was down below in the town with a view of the mountain. It's a long time ago and I can't remember the name. Top STRUDEL though
The same plate as every manager and head coach the world over for 20 years or more. And to be fair, he was appointed before pre season started and it is custom practice to have a press conference for your new appointment to be unveiled. And interpreters have been around for decades too. Curious how you suggest it abnormal that fans may have an excitement for their club, the style of play they may see, and the person who will be the figurehead that they will wish well for season after season and hopefully be part of creating memories over coming years. Actually not curious, just downright bizarre. Anyway, this will be the last conversation we have, I wish you well and to have as enjoyable a season as you can muster, feel free to put me on ignore too seeing as i seem to ruffle your feathers and bunch your knickers so much.
I can remember it. It was lovely. Only three channels on the telly. Pint of lager and a bag of crisps for 50p. Match of the Day showing teams we were actually interested in. Try telling that to the kids these days and they won't believe you.... etc.
I am curious to know how you come up with things that I have supposed to have said , where in any of my posts have I suggested that it is abnormal about fans getting excited about the reds ? I find it bizarre that you think that you rattle my feathers as you put it , I do not know you , like you or dislike you , you are just a poster on a forum , if you do not like the responses you get , then I suggest you give up posting & take up knitting , or is it a case of , its alright replying to you as long as I agree with you . Its obvious you are so self important that it is wrong to have an objective view to yours , well if you do not like my views , then feel free to put me on ignore , anyway , enjoy the weather & up the reds
It's even further back when we were there when we toured Europe pre-EU. We traveled through France, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Lichtenstein, Switzerland and Austria before driving back into Germany. It was before the Euro so we'd different pocket-fulls of various Francs, Marks, Schillings etc. The way you described it sounds exactly like the place we called off when we stopped at Garmisch Partenkirchen on our way from Austria to Munich. As you say, spectacular views of the Zugspitze. The "Posthaus" rings a bell because I'm sure there was a sign with a post horn which stuck in my memory.
There is a very interesting read in the Yorkshire Post this morning , highlighting the early impact our new Head Coach is having at Oakwell
Ah yes, I remember those pre-Euro days. While living in Germany for three years I had several envelopes with varying amounts of currencies for travelling. Deutsch marks were the day to day currency but I also had Belgian Francs, Dutch Guilders, French Francs and American Dollars for the occasional trips to the PXs. Always annoyed me that last bit - American bases all over Germany and they refused to use the local currency. Every base was a Little America. You could argue that some British bases were the same but at least we acknowledged that we were in a foreign country, except for odd individuals who never went beyond the camp gates.
