If you go for fish and chips and order curry sauce, then you get to have a cake and eat it too -sort of.
it would interesting to see the times of when blackpool took the lead on Tuesday night to when "click bait conans" the kraken awakens post was put on the board
I do not think it was a sitter but yes it was a good chance , why do you expect our strikers to convert every single chance they get ?
Are you that daft? It was posted after the game, and I even said it was a tongue in cheek post, especially for people like yourself.
It wasn’t a great performance certainly - but it was nothing like a game from last season in my view. We had a good shape and are well organised defensively. They had shots on target but all half hit pot shots from distance - we never looked like conceding. Last season, no matter the quality of the opposition, we’d have lost the game. Had we scored in the first 20, when we looked likely, or if Mowatt had scored with the last kick or the first half, I think we’d have gone on to get one or two more as it would have changed the way Wimbledon had to approach the game. We weren’t good enough to break them down. But I’d rather say that Wimbledon were good enough to keep us away. There is a reason they are the other team not to have conceded a goal in the league yet. They were very organised, with a game plan to restrict us and spoil the play. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. They conned the ref for free kicks, and never allowed much space to let us play. Obviously well coached and organised. Even their coaching staff were all up as one to scream at the ref when a decision didn’t go their way - and there weren’t many of those, probably as a result. Streetsmart in a way we should take note of. We have been quite naive for a few years. We will get better for yesterday’s game. The coaching staff will know what to expect and don’t think many will be as effective as they were at killing the game. It was like watching a wimbledon match of years gone by, the ball was off the floor a lot. There are weaknesses in our side. Potts isn’t a good crosser of a ball, not even decent. But had we had Isgrove on the right yesterday I think the lack of Potts’ height and physicality might have given the edge to the Wombles in the midfield areas when challenging for first and second balls. Moncur came on, looks quality and never looks like losing the ball - but they were so well organised he always seemed to run sideways with little or no outlet. The full backs were awful on the ball. Cavare looked like he thought he was Cafu and tried to take them on all the time rather than playing a simple pass, and I’m not pinillos’ biggest fan, looks limited. But we haven’t conceded so they are doing the first job on their list well enough. Dougall didn’t have a great game yesterday, Mowatt had to drop deeper and deeper to get space on the ball. The forwards were starved and isolated. As I say, Wimbledon did a great job, we need to learn to counter that. We’re weren’t good, but we weren’t awful - the oppo did a good job on us. If we continue to get a draw on the days we underperform as much and the opposition do such a good job, we will do ok this season. Wimbledon might go close to the playoffs too, I can see them winning 1-0 a lot.
Post times on here are GMT. Because we're BST at the moment they're always an hour behind. So if it says 8:32pm it was actually 9:32pm
cheers jay I did not know that ( Zulu time as we called it in the army) so it was posted more or less at the final whistle when we'd lost
We didn't play great and there were some good examples on what we did poorly. We kept a clean sheet and picked up a point. That in itself is a big difference from last season. However I'm prepared to back the coaching staff and players and see where it takes us.
Yes because what you posted was plain daft. I posted after the game and I even said it was tongue cheek because it was obvious I would get a response like yours.
I agree with most of this apart from the bit about scoring in the first twenty minutes. I think a lot of the problems we had last season are still there, but we just won't get picked off as easily due to the standard of opposition. A big difference e will be that the strikers in this division will be less clinical, but the teams won't be as creative on the whole so we won't be on the back foot as much as we were last season. Yesterday's performance would have ended up in a two nil defeat last season. However, it's a learning curve for the manager, and it's another clean sheet. Could be another test on Tuesday.
