Worked all day yesterday, get score flashers on mi phone. They're very quick with any goals. There's been times when I've been listening to Matt Bailey on player and the score has flashed up before its been commentated on "live". So the point being, the first "flash" to phone was 5 o'clock yesterday, which told me all I needed to know, t'was obviously a 0-0 draw. So my question to the 11500k (decent turn out btw) who went yesterday is... Was it just another bad day at the office .. after Tuesday.. or have the Germans been sussed out, very early doors?... genuine question. We play King Keef's Rochdale in the week... Now despite some on here having him down just a Lancashire gobshite. there is little doubt about his ability to work wonders at Rochdale.. and he's definitely nobody's fool at this level. Something that PC took note of when offering a job here... Now Rochdale have won 1, drew 1 and lost 1... So Tuesdays game will be, our best yard stick to date in my opinion. If we have a chink to our armour.. If what other coaches have seen... how to counter our pressing game... is true, King Keef will have sussed us as well.. If we have aspirations to be ..top 2.. then we should be beating "teams like Rochdale" no question. A draw would also be.. one in the eye.. for the " we'll pi55 this league" boys... with the players we have. Because it would be obvious we won't. And defeat, well, lets cross that bridge if/when it happens.. If we have problems, still not clear to the faithful, I'm sure King Keef is just the man to expose it... roll on Tuesday.. Will be very interesting..
Even the "we'll piss the league boys" don't think they'll go the full season winning 40 odd games out of the 46, we could lose at Rochdale and still piss the league. Wigan won 29 out of 46, they lost 6 times, still pissed the league. Rochdale won't park the bus.
Bradford changed formation last week and caused us problems, were the better side by all accounts until Moncur came on and made it 2-0. Don't know what Blackpool did at half-time but it seemed to work... neither of these 2 "parked the bus" either. What I'm getting at, is the problem ours, no putting chances away.. or have other teams sussed us out and we need a plan B. No one as ever won anything in August.. or been relegated, but patterns do start to emerge. Teams that are top come May normally dispose of the "also ran's" from day 1.. If they don't, they themselves find that they are also... "also ran's". I don't mind if we win dirty on Tuesday with the last kick of the game off the refs ar5e.. Don't care, but we should be too good for Keefs boys even this early in the season if we have real aspirations not to be with the also ran's
The Blunts got 1 point from their first 4 games including a 3-0 home defeat to Southend the year they got 100 points. Even if we do ‘piss the league’ we'll hit a rough patch at some point.
I think you’re giving hill too much credit as a tactical genius. He is as you describe, a Lancashire gobshite and not someone I’d like in the trenches. If we beat them it will have been the refs fault, then the weather, then the clubs cat, then his board and then he’ll publicly slate his own players. At no point will the other team have played well and under no circumstances will he be to blame. If they win, it’s all down to him alone.
He's given Rochdale by far the most successful spell in their history over a considerable period of time. You can dislike him and criticise what he did here, it's all opinions, but his record at Rochdale is there in black and white.
He’s Keith Hill. The same as ever. We’ve started better than the last two seasons but old problems remain around employing players out of position. All very unnecessary as we have a half decent squad with a few options. Lucky to get a point at Fleetwood, but it was games like that we’d never get a result at last season. Same with our opening day win at Burton. I’d take a point now.
Given that they'd only ever been promoted to this level once before in their history I'd say it makes him their greatest ever manager in their hundred year history. They hold the record for the lowest average league position of any club in existence in the leagues since it was expanded to four divisions. The fact is that their history and resources kind of prove the point rather than undermine his achievements.
Bradford were definitely not the better side. They had an intensive spell just before Moncur came on but overall we were far the better team.
