If Tom goes, who should we be looking at? Proven players even at this level are expensive. I wouldnt have minded Marquis a few months ago but lately he cant hit a barn door. Could go for experience with Tom Pope or Danny Hylton?

Would be a loan from a bigger club, I assume. Hope it's a Fletcher, rather than an Ugbo.

I hope it’s a pair of door hinges rather than ugbo.

A loan from man city's under 12s. Even pompey will tell us to **** off with Chaplin why would they loan now to a promotion rival when they could leave us well short.

Wouldn't mind a Bundesliga youngster on loan, should be able to attract them with free board and lodgings in Barnsley. Experienced league one strikers probably not good enough.

Don't like criticising a player who definitely had talent but wasn't ready for that level of football. However, I can't get my head around Hecky meeting him in Wakefield and properly convincing him to sign for us ahead of other teams as if it was a massive coup.

    A pair? We can't afford that, unless it's a 2 for 1?

TBH loaning any of these youngsters is a gamble, but at L1 level, they should e able to cut it, if they are on the books of a big club. Championship is mesters league. Need a bit of nous, as well as pace. Fletcher looked very good when he came in. Need someone of that calibre. I'm hoping Victor & Jacob Brown get a chance too from the bench, we have let a few decent strikers go recently. At Championship level, hard to throw them in, but in L1, they should be getting 15 / 20 mins at end of games we are chasing, or home & dry in at the very least.

Yeah good point to be fair I wasn't over the moon about Chaplin. I'm just pissed off a really good start to the season we then look like we are going to shoot ourselves in the foot and sell a key player for under market value at a time when we are restricted to replacing him with a loan. I thought we were already a striker short with or without Bradshaw. Counter productive but we have been here before.

Someone like a chapman or Chaplin would work well I think to utilise the pace to stretch teams. Chaplin didn’t score a lot last season but rarely started and often played out wide or as a lone striker so hard to judge based on the stats alone.

Or we could go full on power and get Eaves from gills. Moore and eaves would frighten all defences

Why would anyone like Gillingham loan us their main striker so we can buy them in Jan if we offered they would have us over a barrell and no doubt we would end up paying over the odds.

They might need the cash? Or he might force a move? Was just a suggestion

They surely will, no club in their right mind would let a first team starter go without someone in pipeline to replace them

I'm not getting all 'Wednesday Massive' here but after the start we've had, the PR around the club, the positivity, etc. then why couldn't we take a star striker from a team that might see mid-table as an achievement this season?

The player might want the move and as Patrick Cryne said many times the value of a player is only what somebody is willing to pay. We're not guaranteed to be bent over a barrell at all.

Chaplin’s overall record 25 in 122 games is pretty poor but he’s a young lad.

Would be good if we could approach forest get them to cut the Cummings loan to posh short loan him with view to buy in Jan. 23 still only young fits the bill. I know it won't happen but would piss that posh chairman off too.
