Heard similar that we have targets lined up, and have no reason to doubt that. Also thought we had turned down £1.5m for Bradshaw already, so expect the fee is at least that or more with add ons. All due respect to Andy Giddings I doubt he knows what our board are willing to sell at. People will rightly be concerned that a starting 11 player is leaving, even one who has pushed for a move. If we replace him with better all will be forgiven, if it derails our start, annoys our coach, and hinders our chance of promotion then it will cause people to question the decision makers again. Although we have no idea how hard Bradshaw is pushing for the move. There was talks of transfer requests and if there had been then so be it. Absolutely no point keeping a miserable player in their last year of contract. You need contract length to have leverage which we don’t have with Bradshaw. I’ll trust the board to have the players Stendel wants lined up. I thought we needed at least one striker. If Bradshaw goes we need 2.
At the end of the day Bradshaw is Championship class otherwise Millwall would not want him , if he is being sold for the fees being quoted then its a joke , there is no way we can replace him with a player of championship standard unless its a loan & why bother paying out a loan fee for someone when we already have Bradshaw who is a proven striker who is bought & paid for & under contract , it beggers belief
If it's 15% Walsall are owed 225k so if bfc is run as a business we bought for 650k sold for 1million minus Walsalls cut we made a massive 125k.
It's 15% of profit. So Walsall will only be entitled to 15% of £350k, making their payment £52.5k. All on the assumption the deal is £1m which I don't think it will be. A profit of £300k, with add ons, at a time when a player was running down his contract and risking being lost for nothing, after two seasons of football, one of which survived in the Championship. We've made a lot more than £350k in reality.
If Barnsley are run as a business Bradshaws book value depreciates evenly over the period of his contract. Your forgetting the value we’ve had from the initial investment of the assets. Anyway. If he goes it will be more than a million.
Surely you would have to factor wages/ agents fees etc into that equation which would push us into the negative
You would. Also the issue with valuing any footballer is it’s impossible to fully evaluate their worth accurately. It’s a bit of a pointless discussion as we as fans only care about having a decent player. Bradshaw is decent (I personally think he’s a good/top end L1 player, but average/poor in today’s championship). If we sell him, I’ll only think it’s good business if we replace him with a better player. If we don’t replace him, or replace him with someone inferior, then I will think it’s poor business. However, he has been desperate to move for a long time, and if we have had a good offer for him, with a good player lined up to replace him, I would say get the deals done and move on.
Just because Millwall want him doesn't mean he's championship class. Based on that logic every player Barnsley ever signed whilst in the championship has been championship class. Which we all know isnt true. A better measure of Bradshaw's ability to perform in the champ would be to assess his performance over the last couple of seasons.
So are you suggesting Millwall are not going to play him in the Championship ? They will have been assessing him for a long time, & thats why they have been after him all close season . Of course he is championship class.
Business is business but a big factor will be TB's attitude as to where he wants to play. Why keep a player who wants away when there's a deal to be done to fund a move that may be in the pipeline? My biggest fear is losing Stendel, Winkler and Stern.
No i wasn't suggesting that. Whereas you are suggesting every player to have been signed by a championship club is chanpionship class. Which is daft.
I think in all honesty he struggles in the Championship unless you set a team up around him and even then his lack of pace and inconsistent positional sense limits him. What he is though is an integral part of the first team here and will be hard to rep,ace at this stage.
The whole point of our new tactics is the team over the individual. He missed three good chances last night, seems typical of him these days, don't want him to leave but some people's reactions are hilarious. I almost feel we're selling Messi or something.
Well he's Championship standard in the sense he is average at that level. Around 1 in 4. So yes he can do a job.
Totally agree 1.5 MILL [ awsome ] 400/500K at most last season. We've cum darn a division and his value has trebled, for me tek the money and thankyou Millwall
Yours is daft , I am suggesting that Millwall will have monitored Bradshaw in the championship for the last two seasons & therefore must consider him good enough to play with them in the championship, where as Barnsley in recent times , apart from Mowatt , have always bought from lower divisions with a view to develop the players into the standard required , the two clubs have a totally different transfer policy .
I said any championship club, not just Barnsley. The logic that he must be good enough because Millwall consider him good enough doesn't make sense to me. Anyway let's leave it there. We will soon see how good Bradshaw is in the championship. On recent evidence playing for us at that level, I reckon he will score 10 goals max for them and maybe get a couple of assists. Good luck to the lad. Just hope we have someone lined up who works as hard for the team as Tom has this season. Because that's what we'll really miss.
I personally feel Bradshaw would be a massive loss. He's a mid table Championship striker but do understand why some fans don't seem so keen. I think we can get better as there's players available who would improve us but we're not necessarily gonna get that type of player. I just don't want us bringing in a player as a replacement and him taking 18 months to settle in. That's the different between a top two finish and finishing mid table.
I agree with most of that & thats what is disappointing , to try & sign someone who can bring to our team what Tom does at this late stage is a hard task & will probably co as much if not more than we recoup on his transfer , considering that Walsall may be due some payment, it just does not make sense .
