Couldn't make Leeds Fest 2013, due to a pre booked holiday, and was gutted as my favourite band, Green Day were on. So went to a festival in Arrass, France, called Main Square which was €110 for three days. Saw Prodigy, Biffy Clyro, too many to name, and of course Green Day, who it turns out the French aren't that fussed about, thus allowing me to walk straight to the front row. Think nearly all my favourite gigs have been at festivals though. There's just something special about open air gigs, rain or shine.
Went to Spike Island to see The Stone Roses, to be there was great but can only, really remember 'Waterfall' as being a great performance.
The Who at Sheffield Arena back in 1999 / 2000. I've seen them four times and this was the best of them all that I've seen. Probably down to the songs they played than the actual quality of performance.
Green day-Sheffield arena. U2 bellend road. Big country (supporting Bowie.) Wembley. ODS (Saxon) Birdwell. Cyndi Lauper. x4 all venues. Lots of others but probably my top 5 are above in no particular order.
Were Oliver Dawson Saxon that good? Me and my band are supporting them in October. Looking forward to it!
Awesome. Whereabouts. Thanks might have a run over. Edit. Just looked is it the birdwell gig. ? If so, definitely there. What’s your band called mate.
Heineken Music Festival in Leeds before the Tories brought in the Public Order Acts which killed most free festivals off. Sometime in the 1990s. Big Country were just awesome and so were The Stranglers. Sex Pistols at Finsbury Park in 1996. Top bill with Iggy Pop, Skunk Anansie, Wildhearts and others. Too much to drink. Black Keys at the Cockpit in Leeds around 2003 were out of this world. I saw them at the Leadmill and another place in Leeds not sure if that was at the Uni or the O2.
