Hendrix either at Woodstock or Isle of Wight. Led Zep at any point in their prime. Nirvana at Reading '92.
Probably either the Last Waltz or anything at the Village Vanguard in the early 60's or Max's Kansas City in the mid 70's
Saw them three times before they " made it big". Twice at the Beat Nite at Doncaster Baths ( day they released Love Me Do) and once at the Co-Op ballroom on St Sepulchre Gate Donny. Next time I saw them they headlined at the Doncaster Gaumont and you couldn't hear a note above the shrieking females. Lennon was shouting for them to shut up.!
In the first year at Uni (Oct 1989) my mate had tickets for a triple bill of bands from Seattle at the Hallamshire Hotel on West Street. Mudhoney, supported by Tad and a little known band called Nirvana. I couldn't go (was working) and he forgot all about it.
It's quite funny about the screaming. Can remember the bloke who ran our youth club telling us tales of a decade earlier when he took a busload to see the Bay City Rollers. He said you couldn't hear anything but the screaming. Didn't know whether they were miming, playing their instruments or making it up as they went along.
Not been to many but Chili Peppers were best. Police were worst - started so well with "bring on the night" and it went downhill from there.
I'm not sure there are any words to sum up how crushingly disappointing that one is! REM only ever cancelled eight shows in their entire 31 year career. I had tickets to three of them. I did see them four times as well though, so it's not in the same league as your Nirvana fail. At least you were working mind. "Forgot about it" is beyond dire as an excuse!
Metallica - Day on the green 1985 Alice In Chains with Layne Staley on lead vocals Danzig classic line up
Used to be into rap and hip hop before I grew up and I would have loved to have been at the up in smoke tour, used to watch the dvd once a week in my teens. Also, I've seen Oasis 3times but I would have loved to have been at the Maine road gig, I have the dvd of that gig and it always looks an amazing atmosphere. Also would have loved to see Linkin park (rip chester).
