    Hitched with some mates from Donny to see Jimi Hendrix Experience in Dereham, Norfolk
    in October 1967. Other memorable shows I saw included Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Rolling Stones and
    the Everly Brothers. Worst was the Beatles at Doncaster Gaumont. I'm sure they were good
    but you couldn't hear anything due to screaming girls. Best gig I attended was at Hammersmith Odeon
    and featured the late great Waylon Jennings and the Waylors.

    Arcade fire last year at castlefield bowl in Manchester however courteeners ran close last year on the Saturday after the bombing in Manchester very emotional when don’t look back in anger was sung

    I won a free ticket to the Enemy gig a couple of years ago on their farewell tour on the day of the gig. Couldn't find anyone to go with at short notice so I drove to Manchester on my own and it turned out to be one of the best gigs I'd ever been to. Also went to Oasis at Heaton park when the generator blew up and Liam and Noel decided they would give everyone their money back for the gig and they still played anyway so it was a free gig!

    They sort of did in 2013 - they were touring as Kyuss Lives without Josh Homme who has turned into a bit of ******. Saw em at Rock City. Homme then sued them for using the name and they changed it to Vista Chino and released an album which was very average.

    I did the usual first year at uni gigs of the time - Oasis at Heaton Park, Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party. The Monkeys were a bit flat. Oasis wanted to sound big but you had to like them as people to get into it and I never got into that big Manchester ego thing. Bloc Party never took off like the other two. I tried to see Franz Ferdinand but always seemed to miss them.

    Yeah I have the Vista Chino album and agree it wasnt great. I like QOTSA older stuff but gone off their recent music. Plus him acting like a dick hasnt helped.

    Was also at the Courteeners gig last year (just got tickets today for Leeds later this year). First saw them in a small tent at Benicassim festival in 2008 not long after St Jude had been released. There can't have been many more than 30 of us in there. Became an instant fan.

    I couldn't get pre-sale today, so have to hope I can buy Friday for what will be my 8th and daughter's 11th time.
    But hoping to be ok now they've moved onto arenas rather than academies. Hoping.

    Oasis at Knebworth is one that springs to mind. Was there on the saturday and we were one of the first to get into the venue. When we got in everyone started running towards the front. At the time we had no idea why but for some reason we did the same and ended up with wristbands to get in and out of the pit right in front of the stage so we were able to come and go as we wanted and there's was loads of space to enjoy the day.
    Prodigy, Manics, Ocean Colour Scene, The Chemical Brothers and The Bootleg Beatles as support was pretty good.

    NME new bands tours in 2005 and 2006 at Leeds Uni:

    2006: Maxïmo Park, Arctic Monkeys, We Are Scientists, Mystery Jets

    2005: The Killers, The Futureheads, Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs

    First Arctics album had just gone to number 1 and my feet never touched the ground for the entire time they were on stage.

    Special mention for Arcade Fire at Madison Square Gardens in 2010, Alt J at Cockpit (not great live but amazing atmosphere and first album had just won Mercury prize), and Future Islands at Plug a couple of years ago.

    Early Kings of Leon at Donny Dome was good, and always enjoy Manchester Apollo (particularly Elbow and Blur in 2004).

    U2 in many places, never disappoint. Blondie on may 24 1977 in Sheffield, started a lifetime love of her. Glastonbury 2003, Radiohead were awesome. Bootleg Beatles are great. Live aid has to be up there too for the sheer number of acts.
